Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

A warning about thinking the grass is always greener

I've seen a pattern recently where several former coworkers who left a while ago for what they thought were better jobs are now quietly reaching out, asking about coming back. Their new roles had hidden problems, worse culture, or just didn't live up to the promise. It's made me think twice about my own plans to leave. Before you jump ship for something that looks better, it might be worth talking to people who've actually made the move. As bad as it is here, the reality can be very different from the offer letter.

Anywhere is better as long as you get away from the fraud we Americans call Heath Insurance.

Wouldn't come back. Not even for a million dollar bonus. You think I'm kidding but I'm very serious.

I put up a post last December on how much better my new job was, and the people at Centene were pi---d!!

Well, Im still here and love it! The grass IS greener. Centene was and still is the most toxic place Ive ever worked. AND the most unstable place as well

I have zero regrets leaving Centene. I never realized how toxic the work environment was until I left. Ohio has the worst management of any place I’ve ever worked and I pity the friends who still work there.

Centene’s culture is far worse than anywhere else I’ve ever worked. Just saying.

It's true, It's all a cr-p shoot.

Even if you leave and it's a great, that new manager might leave or be re-orged and the next is a nightmare.

Best bet is to not burn bridges, because you never know how life is going to turn on a dime.

I lucked out last time I had a horrible horrible boss, they moved her along to a different department in a non leader role.

But you can't hold your breath waiting for a miracle!

Sometimes the devil you know is best, but other times it's worth jumping from the pot into the fire. LoL.

@b2 ditto. Same here. Nothing lined up when I left, but my sanity took precedence.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t leave because i thought the grass is greener. I left before I had another job lined up. I left because I had a leader that was a narcissist. Let me guess. You’ve heard that one before? You don’t understand what I went through. I had the worst of the worst.

Hey, leaders and HR and all the other folks that are in positions that care about this kind of thing.

  • contractors keep getting let go? Su-ks they didn’t get a final say. Hmm… wonder why?
  • internal employees leaving too? Another department or another company? Hmm… wonder why?

Both scenarios above under the same “leader”?

Does this “leader” seem all fun and daisy? You want the red flags? Those are the red flags.

Some of us have no choice but to leave. We are not allowed to record calls to prove how awful some leaders are. We can’t prove our case.

When you’re under a narcissistic leader so toxic you question your own sanity, even fast food and Walmart seem like greener grass.

That bi--h is still there by the way in a leadership role. They all reach out to me. Cause they are sadly in the same role I was.

Just sharing a perspective some of us aren’t leaving because we want to, but because we are under a leader who does not deserve their leadership role.

I gave you the red flags to look for above. What good does it do to complain if we can’t prove our case because the leader takes advantage of the fact we can’t record her sh-t and she won’t put it in writing?

I’m just one perspective of many. But I bet some of you can relate. And I’m sorry you’re going through it too. I had to leave to get out. She wouldn’t let me leave to another department. My sanity became more important. Makes the grass look much greener in ways others could never imagine. If you can’t relate, consider it a blessing you don’t know what it’s like

I think this is more of a post about the importance of asking the right questions in an interview. People forget interviews are two sided—not only do they want to make sure you are a good fit for them, but you should also ensure they are a good fit for YOU. Don’t stay in a bad environment out of fear. Get out. Find that new job. Is the grass always greener? No. But it’s clearly not green here either.
