Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

RevOps

What is the rationale behind newly formed Rev Ops under David Schmoock? Will it create overlapping roles and lead to WFR? Does it include any updates to Services group?

This is what Dell is rehiring - tells you everything you need to know. https://www.businessinsider.com/windows-8-tablets-business-2014-7

@b2 It's all about the dollars. Trying to rationalize this is pointless. Hopefully, at one point, the pendulum will swing back and employees will be in a better position. But for now, think about other things because for darn sure, they could care less.

@b2 well SM has 1/5 of Dell’s FTE and Lenovo major employee base is in China and Vietnam (hence the cheaper costs). I agree they may have better culture but the situation is diff from Dell

I’m completely fed up with this company. The endless changes aren’t just wrecking employees, they’re dragging down our customers too. I won’t get into all the details right now, but it’s clear they need to cut some of these project managers or top level management before we end up in a full-blown crash. Dell is charging ahead globally (India and other countries with cheaper labors) with zero regard for cultural realities. Other companies in the 21st century (Lenovo and SuperMicro) have figured this out. Dell is still trapped in a 20th-century mindset, where profits always come before people.
When the fu-k are they finally going to stop bleeding us dry and start investing in their own people? Answer is .... NEVER.

So David Kennedy not in that role right now? So interim CFO gig moves him out of the rev ops seat he was in and schmook takes that role?

I agree. By hook or by Schmook, they’ll take more scalps.

Yes, it inevitably points to a future workforce reduction under a centralized model. The logic doesn’t hold up anyway, Dell essentially chopped off about 20% of its business by narrowing to core services, just so they could justify cutting headcount.

If I had to guess, it means they want more revenue with less people. It probably was a great powerpoint presentation showing big savings.

Can you show me the specifics? Sorry, drones wouldn't understand it.
