I heard there may have been some layoffs today (09/25) at HCSC/BCBS. Can anyone confirm if staff reductions actually happened and, if so, which departments or levels were affected? Just trying to get clarity and hear from those who may have direct knowledge. Thanks.”

We were told by leadership over 300 were laid off

@f0 I have no heard of anyone being let go today but information is so limited so who knows.
Was anyone else let go today 9/26? Nothing is being shared in the company regarding which departments were effected.
What lines of business have been affected? I support FEP and haven’t heard of any layoffs.

I am so sorry, and yet, pretty worried about my own position now. I'm a unit manager in BH clinical operations in Texas.

I worked in clinical operations. Definitely not ED level, but got laid off today. It was out of no where. I've always had great reviews and I've been with the company almost a decade. Sooo sad.

@a8 Aside from being director level, I meet all of this criteria.... the way they are handling this is shady and underhanded.
Layoffs in IT today. But wasn't only IT. I work on the healthspring side so I am a conveyed employee. It's been quite the day. I was told that there will be a corporate communication tomorrow.

My Director was laid off today.. so sad
All levels were impacted yesterday. I got lucky and still have a position today.
@a8 EDs pay grade caps out at 350k so this notion that removing EDs will help bottom line is ridiculous. I think latest estimates is loss projections of $400M in new business so idk!!!!

@ak I heard allegedly they were gonna target Actuarial/ Client Analytics people by end of year.
That department appears to be management heavy, which is creating a bottleneck in certain execution strategies.

@a8 I can confirm they did target individuals at the top end of ranges. Not the only criteria but was definitely a consideration

@a8 I don’t fall in either criteria but do fall in the criteria of my boss having a grudge against me even before I was re-orged under her. So there is a third criteria for these layoffs and it’a personal issues of leadership.
Yes I was let go yesterday and I heard about someone else today being let go. Executive Director level. My observation of the selection looks to be people who have a high wage, many (20+ ) years of service, and the pension benefit. Everyone I know who has been been let go are meeting this criteria just like me.
I work for HR and they are keeping things super hush hush. Apparently yesterday’s layoffs shook things up for the worse and they are re-strategizing on how to do more layoffs before year end. If your department has not had any layoffs yet expect for it to come by the end of the year. God bless.
@OP I asked team leaders today and they are just in the dark as we are. No one knows if their jobs are safe.
