They obviously know something is coming.

Regardless of it being paid PTO or just being off paid and not having it in a bucket....the managers are expected to be at work. If many of them are taking alot of it with short notice, it could very well mean that they know now is the time with the future being uncertain.

But those with unlimited are expected to work in some capacity. So it’s really not time away.

@vn+1jqetx73j - "All RIFs are now pay in lieu of notice."

Wow! There are some shifty takers running HR/Finance. What do they do for kicks in their spare time, pick peanuts out of po-p?

PTO for one of the director's in HCS needs to be monitored because she is NEVER at work; she literally has an excuse everyday/week why she will not be in...it's just ridiculous to watch.

@vb+1jqetx73j. as others have stated, managers M11 and above and IC’s E15 and above have unlimited PTO, nothing to “burn through”

All RIFs are now pay in lieu of notice. What that means is you are technically an EE for 30 more days and are paid in your 30 day notice period prior to supplemental unemployment starting where the max is 6 months. Your access is being taken away same day you are notified you are being let go. In the past, this was up to your boss if you got pay in lieu of notice or you “worked” during your notice period. most associates would take PTO during this notice period but as I stated, that is no longer an option.

Rumor that runouts for those being riff or laid off is stopping (meaning one gets 30 or 60 days before sup starts)

Perhaps that is impacting them burning pto

The only “limitations” for those with mychoice PTO are no more than 2 weeks consecutively and ambiguous verbiage about ensuring your team is performing while you’re out.

That being said, this is the first year where those with mychoice PTO have to submit for approval and the PTO gets logged in workday. So it absolutely can be tracked how many days someone takes who has unlimited PTO. Previously, the PTO did not need to be approved/logged, you would just let your boss know you were taking time if you had unlimited.

Studies show those with unlimited PTO actually take less. Dont be envious of those who have unlimited. In the end, this benefits the company, they did not expand mychoice PTO to benefit the associate.

Are associates that qualified for unlimited PTO being monitored? There is a manager on the Carelon team that takes PTO all the time, for many days. Can HR can run a report and determined that if you’re taking alot of PTO? I feel that it’ll be the next step they’ll do. If work is being done just fine without you, then you can put yourself in danger of being RIF.

All of the varying responses regarding unlimited PTO just shows how bad communication is at this company.... Considering work here? DON'T!!!!

MyChoice PTO applies to E15 and above for individual contributors and M11 and above for people leaders. ES3/MS1 and above for sales.

All managers M12 and up moved to MyChoice PTO (unlimited) on 1/1/25. Used to be only at or above M15 and E15 but they added M12-14 this year.
I wouldn’t read too much into what you’re observing. My guess is any mid-tier manager using more PTO than normal in recent months is simply taking advantage of their new benefit.

Hey @b2+1jqetx73j get your facts straight. We haven't paid out PTO for years unless youre in a state that mandates it.

Additionally, anyone E15 or M15 AND above are on unlimited PTO. It hasn't been opened up to anyone else.

You must be Gen Z.

They opened up the "unlimited" to levels below directors. Also have to put it all in the system now, so not sure how unlimited it really is. Just a good way to not have to pay out banked PTO.

  1. It's spring break time. 2. Managers don't have PTO to burn, they have the unlimited. 3. They are probably as on edge as the rest of us.
