Thread regarding Optum layoffs

New Optum Fl thoughts or insoght?

We are all curious to know if financially is it worth staying on board especially in light of bonuses being eliminated, cut in 401k, poor to no merit increases? Do you really believe this will improve? Any real insight? Please share!!!

@cd unless you’ve been here a long time and have reached the max PTO acrual or just want to coast until your number is called up, I would say look elsewhere. I’ve applied for internal positions that never materialized. Prob bc they ended up getting cut, also.

I also know of someone who got promoted and 2 months later, their whole team got cut. They’re left doing the work of 5 ppl bc of course the work didn’t get cut. Plus they’re now at risk w a fancy title and no DR.

Optum is a top-heavy company with a scarcity of opportunities in the U.S. thanks to increases in both AI usage and offshoring efforts.

Worker bees will continue to lose ground to inflation and be continually stressed out by the very real prospect of being laid off with little to no warning.

Unless you can build a niche for yourself, you would be wise to leave.

Every year you stay with this organization, you are losing 3% of your income. Period. The mo--ns that are here begging or waiting to get let go, they have lost upwards of 25 % of their income in that time by staying.

Yes, I was laid off.
Yes, I got a job 6 months later...
Yes, the raise at my new job last year was 4.5%.

My advice is to look now while you still have a job.

@OP not trying to be flippant but no one knows and they’re lying if they say they do. It’s trite but true - hope for the best but plan for the worst. Start reaching out to your network, update your resume, and start at least “casually” looking while you have a job.
