Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Damage control session

Is anyone else finding this damage control session to be hilarious? Yeah, let's blame the stock price on everyone else but TR

PS
Stock analysts now recommend buying TR. Duh, after 30% discount

And there will be minimal to no pay increases in 2026. Company has the money, but just does not want to spend it on its employees. I have heard some employees and managers getting 2 to 4 times the work they had in the past, with zero commensurate increase in pay. Tough times. Treating your employees this horribly cannot be good in the long run.

@be there was a separate post about MAV earlier that's now been taken down. I assume because the name was used. MAV shows no direct reports - so when are they going to announce something?

Just look at who owns 67% of the outstanding shares of the company. Just look at who is the richest family in Canada. Just look at where that family ranks in terms of wealth globally. Spending money on Synergy and handing out a $350 trinket is just peanuts. All business decisions are to benefit the 67% shareholder.

@b0 they also rented out Universal Studios Florida for SYNERGY 2025. This place spends money on everything except employees.

That was the most tone-deaf all hands meeting I have attended in my 8+ years at TR. I officially hate this place.

"I know you all are worried about losing your jobs due to layoffs, and we pointedly ignored the submitted question about possible layoffs, but take comfort in knowing that attending executives of our Synergy conference received OURA rings to ensure self-care."

After that my "net promoter score," or whatever it's called, for the company is zero. I will actively discourage people from applying here (not that I was encouraging before).

@a4 When they said they were handing out those rings my head almost spun around. They are laughing at us in C Suite. "Keep toiling peasants!!"

I loathe this place.

We “had to hand out” $350 fitness rings to our execs but you guys probably aren’t getting 100% AIP, sorry in advance ☹️
