@ce @a3 By the way, English is not the national language of the USA.

Fun fact: For Grammarly - the United States is by far its largest market

@a3 Name a conference room and a time, and I'll give you a guided tour of the intricacies of the English language.

@b5 Don't worry. You'll soon be replaced by it. It does gudderer English. ;-)

@b3 It pays to remember that more people have been laid off from Netapp than are employed today. You're not the first; you won't be the last.

  1. I thought from my post if was pretty clear that I was laid off today. 2. I thought this thread was not about finessing the English but about corporate layoffs. 3. Apparently you cannot even read English: I said I am better than many, not that I am better than most. 4. Probably explaining to you what "empathy" means would be a total waste of time. 5. Enjoy yourself

@b0 presumably you understand the difference between "engineer" and "programmer", yeah?

@ay "if English proficiency WERE a requirement then all the offices outside of the states would be empty. [PERIOD, end of sentence] [New sentence] Either you are ignorant or have no knowledge about how THE industry works. Look up [two words] the word engineering in THE dictionary. I have seen a lot of pretentious and loquacious people who are good for nothing."

There; fixed it for you.

@az industry estimates suggest that 60% to 70% of engineering and technical roles in major US-based tech hubs are held by individuals who do not speak English as a native language. Google, meta, Tesla …

What’s your point? Are you struggling with articulation ?

@ay Even better: I looked up "Engineering at Netapp".

"Since Netapp hasn't produced a new product in 10 years, Engineering at Netapp is primarily sustaining and support. English proficiency not required, otherwise no one would want to work at Netapp"

@ax if English proficiency is a requirement then all the offices outside of the states would be empty, either you are ignorant or have no knowledge about how industry works. Lookup the word engineering in dictionary. I have seen a lot of pretentious and loquacious people who are good for nothing.

@a4 Not really. The point being that the only "engineers" still at Netapp are illiterate and couldn't find a job anywhere else.

@aj no, what's disgusting is that (a) you're still at Netapp and (b) that you think you're better than "most US born engineers".

@aj "However, I am pretty sure that I am better than many US born engineers." Thats pretty much the problem here. Thinking you're better than everyone else.

I am one of those senior engineers. I am not the author of the original post, but English is not my first language. However, I am pretty sure that I am better than many US born engineers. In any case, commenting on language when these things happen is disgusting.
