Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Company wide layoffs 10%

Is there an announcement date for this or is the news just slowly spreading quietly through each org? I haven’t seen anything in the news, but I guess that’s better for our sagging stock price. Or maybe not, you’d think cutting the fat around here would be good news to investors.

@az Headcount on your team may seem thin but there is a lot of dead weight in ATT. A further 30% reduction in headcount would be beneficial.

@fd you clearly lack the proper vision and intelligence to lead. Your time here won’t last much longer. The tough decisions end with people like you becoming jobless

@OP

I believe AT&T needs to continue building a stronger market-driven culture focused on performance, accountability, and long-term competitiveness. That means making difficult decisions when necessary, including reducing redundant positions and streamlining teams to stay agile in a rapidly changing industry. A stronger return-to-office policy is also important because in-person collaboration improves communication, training, innovation, and team culture in ways remote work simply can’t fully replace. If AT&T wants to compete and grow, the company has to prioritize efficiency, execution, and a workplace culture centered on results.

When was the last real one? 10, 15, 20 years ago?

Last year in D9 genius. My yard lost 4 MSTs to it.

Big layoffs coming very soon in wireless. Tower builds are being axed and the money savings is going to be spent on fiber.

LOL. They give the bargained for employees those huge buyouts in their contracts because they will never execute on them. Keep dreaming. They will just layoff everyone else junior (cheapest option), dump more work on the seniority guys, and hope you retire on your own or drop dead from the work load. You guys are absolutely silly with those offers talk. When was the last real one? 10, 15, 20 years ago?

Cutting the fat...pfft, they already cutting the muscle, and now, slicing bones off. Tough to run a successful company when you have removed all your working employees, and either dont backfill, or backfill overseas. "We lost XX today, you are just going to have to do more, with less", sound familiar?

The gossip always starts with big numbers like 10% or 10K and then ends up being 165 or some cr*p

It was announced yesterday when people’s badges were “accidentally” shut off.

In these peanut butter spread layoffs, it is never the fat that gets cut because the "leaders" don't want to do without head count. So, if a supervisor knows that one of the team is retiring, the soon to be retiree gets offered up, or that backfill position gets offered up. and the low performer continues on.
