Well.. it is what it is. But it’s heart breaking to read the comments regarding laid off O employees and that they were cut from medical insurance and work after many years with just one cold e-mail. Employee that was planning serious surgery next month, a woman 30-week pregnant opened mailbox and suddenly her access was cut…. There are lots of stories where just
As I observe on Linkedin people really are getting ungry for this AI bullsh-ts published on Lnkdn, and are leaving the comments regarding yesterday and todays layoffs. People just got sick with that situation. It lacked basic human decency.

@az $3.6 millions is lot of money
@am I worked for O for many years then worked for a startup and I thought i would never see management like in Oracle. Then that startup was absorbed by another large company and omfg Orcl by leaps and bounds above the current place.
@az Can you retire on that ($3.1M) if you’re in your early 60’s with no debt? Asking for a friend. 😊
@af so true. I got laid off last year, had $3.6 million saved. Enjoyed some time off, then went back to work on my terms. Why people making good money aren’t more thoughtful with planning and savings is d-mbfounding.
@ag I used to work in their project management GBU. The people that ran that unit were close to brain dead and doing ever held a hammer. We have very incompetent people in positions of power they never deserved.
It was a very tacky unprofessional method but I hear for this many layoffs it is the norm.. via email. My husband..33 years at Oracle.. wake up and an email. He's fine, ready to retire but the lack of anything personal is amazing. Oh, and 2 weeks coverage only for benefits so scrambling to get that done. Use to be 30 days back in the day. I wish everyone the best. Not a pleasant market for tech folks. FYI, I am a 25 year Oracle veteran.. retired a few years back. Best thing I did.
@OP Oracle is such a tacky company and this just doubles down on already huge mismanagement. If you have lay this many people off to spend on data centers you have no planning skills. The whole SLT should be replaced for their lack of skill.
People need to live well below their means. I see people living pay check to pay check but making serious coin. Their lifestyle of multiple cars, lavish houses, expensive vacations gets me every time. I'm not saying everyone is like this but I've seen a few living this way and, all of a sudden, they don't have a job.
How much of an emergency fund do you have? Can you cover two years being out of work.
Can you afford health insurance? Depending on your situation and health, family of four is about 2500 a month out of your pocket.
Should I have children? I see 20 somethings saying they can't afford it.
We've been sold on tech jobs lasting forever. Whether AI becomes more pervasive or not, it seems like it is becoming real right now.
@OP: "It lacked basic human decency"... correct. If AI was used to make the hit list, it's only logical. Machines don't have feelings or empathy. The are cold, emotionless critical thinkers. We best get used to this reality, else there will be many heartbroken idealist out there that will suffer hard with what the AI world has in-store for us.
@a3 you sound perfect to be oracle mgmt.
@a3 your sarcasm is not funny at all, you don’t catch the point, just leave it, right?
@OP Would it make anybody happier if the layoff notification had been made in a warm, soothing, encouraging, "no-big-deal-you-will-be-fine" tone?
