When should we expect the next re-org? I got a job in Wave 1 - now im questioning if I should have taken the package. The workload is becoming insane, schedules ridiculous and now I see the writing on the wall that this transition to ENGINE is going to be an epic fail - or at least take a LONG time for it to be a success. And no, I’m not a lazy dum--ss, I work hard and have integrity with what I deliver. I’m having to re do all the work as well and have meeting after meeting to get people up to speed. If they were smart they would have started ENGINE years ago and then had the layoffs. Wave 2 - heads up - really consider if this is the environment u want to be in.

What is the word within CVX regarding the hybrid schedule for sole contributors? Is it going back to standard 9-80 schedule?
it’s absolutely hilarious how these boomers make their job their entire identity and personality and so they expect everyone else to as well.
then they retire and statistically speaking drop dead six months later for the most part
the wrong way to live is being the 12 hour day person. nobody cares that you’re sound that. work to live, don’t live to work. su-kers. nothing wrong with working from 9-5 in your gasp 9-5 job.
Working to rule means doing exactly what your job requires. Nothing more. No unpaid overtime. No covering for three people. No 12-hour days because leadership didn't staff or plan properly.
If the system breaks, let it. Management built it. Let them fix it.
You deserve rest. You deserve balance. You deserve respect.

YES! hoping it will be annual now. I was in Wave 1 and next time will raise my hand to AEOI. It’s easier said than done to work your 40 hours/week - there is no strategy or planning anymore - it’s just fire fighting around here and the lack of resources doesn’t equate to less work for those of remaining. The folks in India are eager - maybe good at conducting repeating tasks - but they still lack business context and knowledge. Some things you just need experience which they don’t have. I can’t tell you how many times I have had spend extra hours of re-work and it took more time if I just did it myself.
oil major layoffs are annual now. outsourcing to india is daily. our industry has faced zero consequences for doing this and will keep on doing it. despite trump and the supposed anti immigration folks at all levels. it’s not even in the news.
the only strategy used at the majors is as follows. doesn’t matter which major. shell, exxon, chevron.
- cut costs and people
- outsource to india
- big back stock
that’s it. the truth is that nobody knows to do so theyre being overly safe. the industry market has shrunk considerably and will continue to do so and no supposed green asset of the future or clear pivot has emerged. all of the leaders of all of these companies are hoping one of the other ones figures it out so they can copy it.

and with so many people leaving in San Ramon and they are struggling to find people in ENGINE India and other places.... you have the power to dictate your work - dont forget Chevron does not fire people .. they wait for a major layoff.
We are not the top employer in Bengaluru and we dont pay top over there

I am sorry to hear you are expected to work do hard. If you are working that much, you should update your resume and start looking for a new job. People have already posted on other threads that psg 20’s are getting the same or pay increases and I believe that is possible. You are definitely a hard worker. Get on the job search and cut the ball and chain off.

Not really, but I’m being far more protective of my time than I was before. On at 7:30, off by 5:30. I’ll help the ENGINE people between those hours but otherwise Chevron has made it clear that I should be looking out for #1. No more 14-16 hour days for me.

That's what SHE said!....No but really...if you're already on their list enough to be offered a package, by all means, take it. Because chances are, if you don't, your workload will just get more intense and insane; and even if you're in the next round to be offered a package, it might not be as generous.
@az yes, I think you are right and I need to stop taking calls before and after hours and let them deal with the fall out.
@ak sorry meant to say 3 days a week we have to come in. The same supervisor/manager asked me last year why I didn’t come in during the week / last week of Xmas holidays. I responded because none of my team was onsite so there is that.

I am now working 14-16 hours a day. I recently got criticized by leaving early one day by of the managers who does not have to deal with offshore resources. Do they not understand I am typically on call with people in India in the morning sometimes as early as (4 am) to walk them through the work and late in the evening so that this time zone shift doesn’t impact the project schedule they set??? So yes, I’ll come in the 3 hours a week, lose 2 hours in commute, and you still expect and criticize me to stay until 4 pm (when I have another call with them in the evening. I am already there by 7:45 am every morning so I can just take another teams call with them at 8 am from the office. I wish I EOI’d, I’m making less per hour, commuting more and only becoming a “valuable contributor” in my mid-year PMP (oh and as a 20 PSG I’m doing what was considered at least PSG 22 work previously). Yes it’s difficult and was planning to just deal with it, but having leadership make those type of comments makes me wish I was more proactive, and found something new beforehand and EOI’d.
I wish I AEOI’d. I didn’t even get a chance to EOI when the time came since they told me I was in a closed position. Everything happens for a reason, next round I will request to AEOI.

Yes - there will be a fundamental shift in the company and its culture. Don’t expect a career here, just a job. Assume you are just a contractor for Chevron going forward,
