Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

“The Layoff” or Festivus?

I’m confused by most of the posts on this site. It seems as this thread has become overrun with individuals and their “airing of grievances” around specific situations or slights that they’ve experienced in their careers. Seems off topic, petty, and narrow-minded.

Please get back to the topic at hand: layoffs.

This site is a valuable resource precisely because of the types of discussions that you decry. There is no other forum for this type of candid discussion of these topics. I understand why you, Dear HR Lady, would object to the airing of the dirty laundry - but the rest of us find it to be immensely useful. It is certainly in keeping with the site's stated purpose, and serves to assist us in preparing for, and reacting to , workforce reductions.

Classic! Whine whine and when it's clear nobody's with you, pretend like that was your intent all along.

OP back again. Honestly, this commentary is exactly the reason for my post. Good honest debate material. To all those that felt slighted, enjoyed the laugh, got mad, got pi---d and/or felt empowered to say something….congratulations! This is what it’s about. Healthy conversation based on conviction. Keep it intelligent, have fun and enjoy the ride. Do better today, tomorrow is not a given.

Welcome, newcomers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it!

Umm ... the internet has existed for well over 4 decades, OP. You should know by now the etiquette a forum like this provides with anonymity ... none. If you don't find value here, move on. There are plenty of other sites that would cater to your needs.

On why this site isn't just about layoff's anymore is well summarized by @az+1jspe6whp so I won't repeat it.

You're easily confused then. Maybe a bagel will help. The shop never closed despite the strike.

My POV on why this site has become more than just about layoffs

  1. because everyone is constantly afraid there is another one and trying to manage day to day faced w a dysfunctional org
  1. who ever is silly enough to get a job here and see what’s going on
  1. also I believe freedom of expression or something like that… since no one at the company is working towards creating a culture of excellence and integrity and instead it’s all short term cost cutting

So yeah treating people like po-p comes with consequences. I like American capitalism and I like corporate America… us bank is just as many said not American anymore with all the jobs going abroad and def not corporate it’s more a “my buddies get the best roles”

I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it! You, Kruger. My son tells me your company stinks!

Kruger, you couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe... I lost my train of thought.

There's some really good information to be gleaned in the comments on some of these posts though. Just because they seem off topic doesn't mean they're not useful.

People will air things here that they wouldn't anywhere else. Do with it what you will.

OP here. No issues at all with the comments, they’re just off topic and not related to layoffs. Please, say whatever you want. “Bootlicker” chimes in all the time, usually with a rehash of the same topics: general disdain for corporate America, capitalism, big toxic negativity, the sky is falling, etc. Please….keep preaching! 😉

Bootlickers don't like it when people tell the truth about the toxicity. Maybe you're a toxic manager and drink the kool-aid. We obviously can say whatever we want just like you can cry about how it bothers you.
