Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Regarding Lucky me in Alpharetta I really don’t know anything about Central Offices and I did state I couldn’t attest to all locations. I believe the majority of people in the Atlanta hub are assigned to Lenox and Alpharetta with a small presence still in Midtown. By choice some people are choosing to go to smaller buildings to avoid parking issues and those small buildings which are not assigned in Webphone most likely do not have cleaning staff. My point really was use legitimate arguments against RTO. On this site there are so many post as if ATL and Dallas are both overrunning with trash, unclean bathrooms and a lack of toilet paper…germs everywhere as a result. These absurd rants weaken the argument if you are making a case of why RTO is not effective and is counterproductive. I WFH pre COVID so I hate it but you can’t fight it with unprofessional lying. If you want to fight it fight with the facts.

Well lucky you because I work in many of the Central Offices all around Alpharetta, Atlanta and they are totally disgusting. Your anecdotal account isn’t the norm for many. You are among the privileged few to have a cleaning staff.

As far as RTO, Americans have been working in crowed office spaces for over a hundred years so cry us a river. Working expectations and conditions change throughout one’s working career, boohoo! I agree the company should meet OSHA standards for safety, sanitation and overcrowding, other than that, get busy or quit.

Why are people fabricating total germ disaster. Nobody likes the 5x8 RTO and yes there may be some overcrowding with work stations and parking but the lack of cleanliness and the absurd toilet paper claims are not believable. I work in Alpharetta and I can assure you there is a robust cleaning staff and they clean all day every day including each workspace. There is always toilet paper in very clean bathrooms plus there are sanitizer wipe dispensers if you want to wipe down any area yourself. If you want to protest RTO at least be honest with your argument. I can’t attest to any other location but I cannot believe a small office in Alpharetta is the only office that is maintained this well.

Pure BS. I had a surgical procedure in December. All 4 people wore masks, as did those who kept coming into the OR doing whatever tasks they had to accomplish.

Such BS. Only twice in the past year have I experienced even mild difficulty in locating a desk to work from. The reason both times was due to arriving late to the office when taking personal time off during the morning. Stop with the excuses. AT&T wants the headcount attrition, and you whining dipsh*ts are the low hanging fruit. Any other time in life when you want to avoid having to wait in a line you manage to figure out the solution. AT&T does not want those employees who cannot figure this out for themselves.

It is nothing like it use to be so stop trying to pain a picture that is a lie. We have to jockey for an office everyday when previously we had assigned seating and could leave supplies at work since we have not had any access to required supplies in at least the past 8 years. First thing I do in the am is grab a handful of purex wipes and wipe down the entire new space I am sitting in, the door handles, crumbs off the desk etc. Then I go and wash my hands. This process can take 15 minutes until someone stops me in the hall to chit chat which is every day and with all the construction going on I have to walk to the opposite ends of the building to use the restroom to washup. By the time I am back at my desk and re-log in as by now my laptop has already gone to sleep and there we have it a half hour of the day is shot.

Wrong! It didn't use to be 8 to 5. God forbid you want to make your kid's game one night or daughter is sick at school and need to leave a little early (and WFH). You used to be able to do that and not show up on a report or have to take a caregiver day. What no one is talking about is that the workspaces we are rtoing to are no the same post Covid. I am in an open space with a tiny 3-4 foot desk with ten feet of 6 other people with no dividers. About 50 people within 25 feet of me.
