Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

It's not even that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing anymore...

both are just kind of mindlessly flapping around without the faintest inkling of how to tread water while the entire body sinks deeper into the abyss.

lol @aznv+1kM9Rygh seriously using the "one joke" brand of alt-right humor under the same breath as criticizing other people's talent. I think we're all done here. This thread has peaked.

The OP got trigged by somebody using the word "plumbing"?

I think that says it all about what kind of "talent" is left at PSO these days when euphemisms are frowned upon.

@axgx+1kM9Rygh I agree. It has devolved into something I did not intend (I am the original poster of this thread). Anyone who uses the word "plumbing" to describe a person is undoubtedly on the bottom rung of the talent ladder. Is this really what's left of this company?

When is the next All Hands Town Hall fa-t fest extravaganza? I heard Greta Thunbergs sister's cousin's 3rd aunt's former roommate who was the bronze medalist in the Pen-Y-Bont Cheese Rolling Championships held at the St. Agnes School of Downtrodden Salespeople is the guest speaker. Should be thrilling.

The MS post makes complete sense to me. What about it is so off base? It’s logical and correct.

What you’ve just written is one of the most insanely id--tic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now d-mber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I know facts are difficult, but let's review the facts about Dame MS.

  1. MS used to write extremely long emails to all employees.
  2. MS was a broken clock as CEO at Pearson, kind of like how Ron Johnson was lucky to have been the SVP of Retail at Apple in the same era. What has Ron Johnson done lately? He nearly destroyed JCPenney and then created some sketchy startup that went bankrupt a year after going public.
  3. Twitter had no women on the Board of Directors as late as 2013.
  4. MS was brought on the Board due to her plumbing.
  5. MS tweeted about 7 or 8 times before giving up.
  6. MS followed the usual Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson, Harvey Weinstein crowd on Twitter.
  7. MS collected that Twitter BOD money for doing ????? until around 2018 when she was replaced by another valid plumbing expert.
  8. Jack has admitted to micro-dosing psychedelics.
  9. Jack, who used to be this cute geek, started looking like Rasputin's brother.
  10. The suppression of free speech started after Dame MS arrived. Funny that, what with her newspaper past.

Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter.

  • Ism's in my opinion are not good.

A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me."

Good point there.

After all, he was the walrus.

I could be the walrus.

wtf did I just read?

@7shq+1kM9Rygh Sir, this is a Wendy's. We're here to talk about corporate dysfunction, not your Breitbart-inspired talking points.

I remember MS writing 1000 word emails that took me 30 minutes to read. I saved some because they went on and on and on and on... (cue Steve Perry singing "Don't Stop Believin')

MS was only brought to the Twitter board because of her plumbing. In 2013, Twitter's board was All The Young Dudes, and they were getting criticism. It was unfair to the sisterhood that only sycophantic dudes were on the board to rubber stamp everything. This was a couple years before Jack started micro-dosing and transitioning into Rasputin's brother.

MS had a Twitter account after she joined the board. She followed the kind of people who visited or were friends with people who visited Little St James Island. If you know what I mean.

She tweeted about 7 or 8 times, nothing substantial. Then she gave it up to collect her $500K a year, or whatever it was, until she disappeared a few years ago, only to be replaced by another plumbing expert.

Instead of bartenders, I can hone my DJ skills and become CEO of Pearson.

For those of us in POLS, I wish they would be transparent and give us a heads up. I am looking for a job, but it sucks that I'm not able to find one that will pay what I need to earn. It sucks that they treat us as id--ts and don't disclose the truth. I am watching for ɓoard meetings as they have to approve the sale.

If you have the misfortune of working at POLS, word on the street is there should be an announcement by the end of February. It's laughable the clueless managers running this ship still collect a check. Actually it makes sense given this is Pearson. The sun will soon shine again.

The CEO's at Thomson and MGH performed just as well. She made some disastrous acquisitions...anyone remember eCollege? It was supposed to be Pearson's pipeline into all those online students. She got taken to the cleaners.

She did what all execs do. Rode the demographic wave and jumped off right before the cliff.

I am glad someone has the gumption to not mythologize MS. It’s quite easy to be a leader when you’re making money hand over fist. It’s another to lead when the times are tight and when she forced us to buckle down— I tell you her courage and inspiring speeches really helped me make those last call……

OH WAIT! That didn’t happen! When she saw the storm clouds coming she peaced out to twitter never to be heard from again. And I STILL hear people say she was a hero. She was another exec who got fat and happy and then ditched once greener pastures were available.

That’s the MS I remember.

The executive washroom has been that way since MS was in charge. How many failed companies did she buy and write down using our potential raises and bonuses? Scores and scores!

Then we had Failing, or whatever his name was. Flailing. He was busy selling off the plastic spoons to borrow more money to buy back company stock. That worked out well, didn't it? What's he done since leaving 80 Stand? Nothing. Not even a dameship.

Now we have DJ Andy in charge, fresh off the boat from China. It's understandable that he buys a socialist credit score company because why not. Then he purges nearly everybody who knows the industry and replaces them with a bunch of useless academics whose only achievements in life have been showing up at the weekly DEI pizza party and being triggered by the toppings.

I'm so glad it's spring, the time of new budgets at other companies. I'm applying like the rest of you should be. I've never seen it so insane in my life around here. Total disarray.

When you're wasting thousands of employee hours to push DEI training to grown adults in an obvious scheme to appear as woke as humanly possibly to the higher ed student market, you've completely lost the plot. That's where we are. That's what we've become. And don't appear tough and bullish by parading a military general in front of a regiment of beaten down and struggling soldiers. It's desperation. It's your parachute failing and thinking that by waving your arms like a bird you'll miraculously fly like one. We're better off getting into the professional cheese rolling league to make real money. Grow up, Count Chocula. Trix are for kids.
