Thread regarding Waters Corp. layoffs

The anxiety is crushing

As soon as the layoff rumors start, I can't sleep. I am consumed with anxiety, I can't focus, I can't stop checking my inbox. How do the rest of you cope with this kind of uncertainty?

@ax Definitely not how it works. If they passed away, they would not replace it and add the reclaimed salary as "growth" so they can parade around the boardroom and talk about how great they are.

Meanwhile that workload will be forced on an already overloaded workforce.

Look at it like this- if you passed away they would replace you with someone else (or just AI) and that would be the end of it. The nature of work is that most of us are replaceable. Focus on this- you have a job now. Do it as well as you can, as often as you can. If the worst happens, just remember that being laid off in the US is better than being employed in 60% of the world.
