Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

No layoffs yet in EU, any news?

AFAIK no one has been affected in EU during this round. Last time it took about 1-2 months for layoffs to arrive there, so I would expect end of this month or end of May. Does someone have any intel? Or has someone in EU been affected already? I would not count on this round being over already.

@k7 From a legal perspective, the employer must first notify the Labour Office and the employee representatives (or works council) and start a consultation period of at least 30 days. As far as I know, none of this has happened yet. Therefore, in Czechia, no termination notices are likely to be issued in the next 30 days.

@k4 How long after this meeting with EWC should layoffs begin in the Czech Republic?

There definitely will be layoffs in Czechia: urgent meeting with EWC is scheduled for this week.

Would Ireland start at the same time as UK?

In the UK, it does not have to be on the same day, does it?

Reddit users suggest 21 April and here it is 28 April

@bb IDC and US doesn't apply here, as EU has labor protection laws, so it will take couple of months to arrange all this based on previous layoffs. UK is bit different.

@bg Fingers crossed I get picked.

Can't take much more of "do more with less" "lean in" and "put our customers first".

The 6am email of "your position is being eliminated" shows what your employer really thinks about you.

UK 28th April

Considering how efficiently they have done US and India layoffs, I was hoping it would happen sooner in EMEA. The work is piling up and the morale is at the bottom as I am pretty sure I am being eliminated. This is why I wish it happens asap.

@ax EU managers flying to UK? It does not make any sense to me

Work in fusion cloud apps. There are at least 3 managers I know of that are flying to UK for "meetings" at the Reading office. The timing seems suspicious.
