Why is the union negotiating for an extension? Why not get a new contract. They have to fix retiree Healthcare. Then the union should try to get everyone a pension or at very least a bump in the match in 401K plans.

@OP an “extension” doesn’t mean it’s the same contract just expended more years. It means the full contract will not be open for contract talks. Retiree benefits are part of the talks. You really need to attend a union meeting
Boomers brought you the aids epidemic toxic waste at the jersey shore. Lsd. The bank failure in 2008 , The gulf war ( no we-pons of mass destruction were ever found ) trickle down economics and gas guzzlin muscle cars . Thanks Boomers you did great. And on top of it some of these p.o.s are still working sopping up every penny they can .
@mg get to work son, no one owes you anything.
@OP If you looking closely at the wording from the releases the Company states extension where the Union's say contract negotiations. Of course the Union puts on a tough stance but we all know they'd f*ck members and retirees over in the "last" contract.
@jq ...or, what's the point of replacing a functional lid.
@mg typical disrespectful punk showing your colors. Never been punched in the mouth.
@mg The boomers brought you the Civil Rights Movement, The Internet, personal computers, Feminism, The anti-war movement, expanded environmentalism, great music, a better standard of living...
Why do you paint their generation as inferior to yours?
@me wealthiest, most selfish, most destructive, most evil, most morally bankrupt, most worthless
Can't go extinct fast enough.
@md you do know that they're the wealthiest generation ever, don't you?
Also, they take out far less on credit than you Gen.
Sounds like they managed okay, even without your sage advice, young-blood.
@mb naaahhhhh... it's boomers that can't manage their money. They'll be slaving till they die.
@m6 since 2004
@fd wisdom?
Anyone else tired of these genXers complaining about the union and saying the only ones backing the union are over 50. These Xers are the same ones still crying cause mommy took away their Xbox 5 years ago. 20 something and you can’t tell them nothing. If you manage to stay in a job longer than 5 years you would see the value of a union.
All these posers on here, trying to sow the seeds of doubt with a false reality.
This whole thread is false in its origin, its premise falsely upvoted numerous times by the same entity (via erasing their browsing history or browsing incognito), only to serve as a purposefully designed piece of anti-union propaganda.
Nice try.
@a6 not that I agree or disagree with your sentiment but it's zero, not xero.
@kb I guess if there’s no fiber in your area, you’ll never go. It’s been out 15 yrs already
When will the pots techs get to go to fiber training?
We only heard about fios in emails and commercials but have not been formally introduced to the product that this company offers
@OP The company has only been interested in downsizing for years. They were not interested in hiring for the future. Now they have a senior workforce, concerned about retiree healthcare.
Why do the manhole covers say bell system and not Verizon?
We still work for the Bell system
@fd because we like tinkering and building things. It gets one ready for retirement. Instead of telco stuff now, it’ll be picnic tables and birdhouses…
@fd they haven't had a good offer like a vsp in 25 years I think was the last good one. I just remembered everyone back then that had 35 years and more left. Maybe some with 30 also. I dont remember it all
@fd ain't gonna lie. That's pretty close to true. I would say 50 and older definitely
Why is 90 percent of the union 53 years and older.
FWA is a massive failure.
@e7 Is that you, Rush Limbaugh? Say hi to Satan for me.
@e7 maybe we should ask all the people with fiber run to their homes instead. Clearly FWA isn’t gonna cut it.
@e7 bullsh-t! They are growing and we need them now more than ever!!!!
@e8 4% ? What are you talking about? 4% over 4 years that 1% a year!
The company offered 40% over 4 years!!! 10% right away!!! Are you kidding me? Why tf didn’t they run with that????
Unions have outlived their usefulness. A bygone era that has passed in this time of digital communications and few landlines. Ask the toll taker unions how it worked out for them
@e5 4% over 4 years is not massive its a insult. Thats what they offerd.
The company was willing to offer a massive pay increase in the last negotiation but the union refused because of retiree medical.
@ab TMobile had got lucky and had better leadership. It has nothing to do with the union. The union didn’t buy mm wave spectrum, blue jeans, yahoo, AOL, etc. Go find another scapegoat.
I'm sorry but this is delusional. I hope I'm wrong though!
The company would love to have import Simpath and Hishraj from Asia come in and do the work but it's just not feasible
if there is a 4 year ext .the union better get the membership a pension band raise for those 4 years .,and not do a 2010 and say everythings the same and the membership gets fu#$ k
@b2 not rose colored glasses at all. Just understand the basic nuances my friend.
So much cope in the comments here from our union friends. Rose colored glasses look great this time of the year.
@ax verizon will be here as long as the other two are here
