Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

New PTO policy is a slap in the face for that live in Texas.

New PTO changes -

Most employees will not see any changes to their PTO accrual minimums or PSWD carryover maximums, and no employee will have fewer PTO or PSWD as a result of this change.

· Illinois- and Nevada-based employees will have higher minimum PTO accruals (from 80 hours minimum to 104), while employees in California, Colorado, and Montana will have higher minimum PTO accruals (from 80 hours to 104) and higher PTO carryover maximums (up to 216 hours).

So a big - 🖕🖕🖕🖕 we don’t think you’re worthy Texas folks.

@OP if they were smart, they would have bumped all employees up. This is a big FU to the rest of us.

@de

The company would not award more compensation to certain employees in given states just to make it seem like they're saving more money when they lay them off. Very strange logic.

Very frustrated at the obvious preference for IL employees after losing so many talented employees in Texas. The PTO announcement was a huge F U to the rest of us.
At least we know where we stand.

@dy that seems reasonable under the assumption they want to alienate cheap Texas and Oklahoma employees.

This is clearly just to abide by state regulations for acquiring thousands of remote employees while waiting for us to leave and continue not hiring remote workers. Shouldn’t be surprising to anyone they’re not expanding to everyone.

@cf if you get more benefits, you cost the company more from a total comp standpoint. IL and NM get more benefits than TX. So, TX employees cost the company less to employ.

@bx In case you missed it, HCSC ditched diversity when the new US President took over and it became politically expedient to no longer have a diversity office.

@b7 lol what does IL and NM have to do with costing more?

Pennies on the dollar for hourly and salary employees. We’re basically an on shore, off shore service center for the company in comparison to the rest of HCSC

when it is time for more RIFs, employees that cost the company more will be toward the front of the line to get terminated, so those in IL and NM will be hit hardest

The whole thing is messed up

Here’s the rub: they didn’t even intend to send that email to employees who aren’t receiving an increase. They basically confirmed in a leadership Q&A yesterday that they were hoping the rest of you (“not impacted”) wouldn’t notice.

According to a conversation I just had with someone in HR, our amazing corporate communications team sent it to everybody in error.

@ap Overview

    Texas state law does not mandate a maximum or minimum paid time off (PTO) policy for private employers; it is determined by the employer's own policy. However, for state government employees, vacation leave accrual and carryover are determined by factors like length of service and are capped, and some state employees are entitled to certain leave policies that could be considered a maximum, such as administrative leave. For private companies, any caps on PTO must be clearly stated in a written policy.

@ap HCSC could have simply offered the same pro to all employees regardless of location. They chose not to do so - just like when they cut our wellness days last year. They offer the minimum required and it’s disgusting

It’s really not up to hcsc. It’s a state law so no matter what company you work for, it depends on your state laws.

@am Texas is a more business friendly state and more free. We do not want government dictation. But HCSC could have done the right thing and kept it equal. But that costs money and heaven forbid Maurice or Opella or sl--e bag Paul or Jill the wool bag or Monika miss a meal or a bonus.

@aj I don’t understand the down votes on comments saying people should contact their elected officials. Companies move to TX for the business friendly (employee unfriendly) laws, but you want the same protections and benefits employees have in states losing companies and population to TX. So, contact your elected officials or elect people who will offer more benefit protection to employees.

@aj the word is "minimal" HCSC can make it level across the board by matching the other states. But they are becoming cheap ba----ds.

Anyone who is upset should speak with their state legislatures to increase the minimum amount required by an employer. That is the best way to create the kind of change you want.

Welcome to the red-headed step children's table, TX. OK has been sc--wed over so much more than TX ever has. Pay has been based on location for the 15+ years I've been here. A person straight from school with no experience can come in making 2x more than me just because they are not in OK. You can thank the right-to-work and legislation in OK for that cr-p. Everything is about the business and fattening the pockets of those on the board and high on the totem pole.

@a3 Apparently HR identified the minimum necessary for each location based on state law. It would be fair to provide everyone with the same benefits, but that didn’t happen. Anyone in a location receiving fewer days should contact your state legislator and not just complain here.

@a8 yet where is their growth coming from??? Texas. Sure not Illinois.

They simply do not give a cr-p and laugh through their hyena mouths.

@a2 they should simply give all employees the same but that would cost dollars out of the butt clowns bonuses.

Jill. Paul. Mooonika. Maurice. Ooopella. All hope we will quit. And they know we will just take it.

Just another way to show how little they care about employes by using attrition. If they were truly ethical and gave a damn, they would look at all state requirements and give everyone the same PTO and Wellness days based on the states with the best ones.
