I heard they are offered relocation or severance. Anyone heard that?

@aw+1 Looks like all the forced WFO folks are mad leadership doesn’t think they are worthy of remote so they lash out at everyone. We want everyone to WFH if they want, you dingle nut. Be mad at PK and the other dinosaurs in LT that can’t move past doing work the same way their grandparents did.

I know in our org, most of the ITC hires are not the cream of the crop, because the best candidates I've interviewed book it when they get their offers as we are paying 20% or more below the going rate for their services. India salaries have gone up massively since the ones with any skill are smart enough to use negotiating tactics of having landed an offer to leverage bigger offers from other companies and firms.

@ax Too bad most of the Indian resources we hire are _fu--ing_ garbage. Garbage. Their idea of an 8 hour workday is encountering a problem, posting on slack they need help, and then fu--ing around for the next 7 hours. Can't tell you how many times I come into the office in the morning to see "XYZ happened. Need help fixing it" and nothing was done. Add to that.. lack of code quality, lack of ownership, lack of accountability. Just a dumpster fire through and through. We're hiring the cheapest and the d-mbest. Harsh but accurate.

@aw Leadership loves India now because it lets them save 50% on salaries. Right? My state has a 50% cost of living adjustment down from Oregon.

I am being forced to RTO.

Nike’s clueless leadership:

  • We’re replacing all the engineers by expanding the office in India.
  • All the folks in North America MUST return to the West Coast where we’ll be forced to offer higher salaries
  • It’s not my problem you id--ts have to wake up at 5am every day now. Should have gone to college and joined my frat. Instant Sr Director role.

@a8 agree with deez nutz. Whomp whomp we work from home so what better than pretending to be busy in an office. Also we go in office just to sit in zoom meetings all day. Doesn’t make sense.

Yea I'm assuming the remaining remote positions are being either eliminated directly with severance, or sometimes the choice to RTO (either the same role or a new one).
