Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Well, I’ve been preparing for a while now

I never expected all these recent decisions and developments to lead anywhere good. I’ve finally landed an interview for a decent job. It’s not much of a pay raise, but it looks far more stable. I hope it works out, because staying here just waiting for things to get worse until the axe falls is a disservice to yourself. I’d recommend putting your own interests first. Maybe the rumors about immediate massive layoffs aren’t true, but they are coming. Oracle has become a hot mess, and we’re the ones who’ll end up holding the short end of the stick.

Wish I'd have gotten out but I was only there for a year...was hoping to make it to yep but here we are. Layoffs certainly started. Even my bosses boss got laid off

It’s not much of a pay raise

Pretty safe to say it's more than you'd get by staying.

@aw I don’t necessarily feel safe, nothing in tech is safe, but I feel infinitely safer at my new company than I did at Oracle.

I took a part-time contract … helps healing post RIF. I know many still demoralized since September.

Good for you! Miss you every success.

@ar where did you go that you now feel safe from layoffs? Literally every company out there aside from mom & pops are laying people off right now...

I got the heck out of there recently, I didn't realize how "used to" the stress of the sword of damocles dangling over our heads became (this website doesn't help). That and the fact that no one seemed to give enough of an ish to actually figure out and delegate a product strategy. When I was done the stress relief was so palpable I couldn't believe how I allowed myself to exist under so much stress. People don't let the man tell you it's too hard to find a new job.
