@cb you and others seem to be out of touch or are having a personal relationship or something. None of this is about who is nice and who isn’t. You are not gonna end up on a list because you’re nice or you’re not nice. VH can only blame his teams. Obviously he did not create any of his bloat and waste himself. Most of it he inherited - I am very well aware of that. None of it matters in the end. You just look at the facts right now, and look at which org runs more lean and more compliant and more efficient operations. Like it or not - it’s just a fact. Best recourse would be if they cherry pick best talent and merge and get rid of dead weight. But I doubt it they would do that - too much work and every middle manager will be protective of their own flock. We do not run centralized individual performance indicators for tech staff so it will all entirely be based on middle managers words and who would tell the best story.

Both PW and VH are good, honest people. But let’s be honest too, the new CPO will want to bring in his own people, maybe not right away, but it will happen. That is how that level operates. PW will probably land somewhere in the mix, but he is not a technical lead anymore, and the whole tech org runs on linear thinking. That will not last. A CPO from Meta will shake the entire tech stack, because a scorpion cannot change its nature, it only knows how to sting.

I mean, nice guy but somehow spent all the company’s money while also having the worst user experience of all the streaming apps. He has years to tackle the technical debt but we are still left with a glitchy mess that is hard to navigate. At least pw made things efficient.

@b9 right now DG has 2 people reporting to him. PW has 22. VH has 8. Those numbers may change next month.

@b8 That’s fake news. Stop spewing lies. Both PW and VH are good people but PW is not taking on streaming.

@av that’s a cute narrative you built but VH decided to leave this is not PW vs VH. This was VH wanting to leave the company. He was not forced out. Both are great guys. Sad to see VH leave he is awesome.

@b8 you are saying that the CPO will have only PW reporting to him and everyone else reports to PW? Do you realize how ridiculous that is?

@OP PW is running the show now. Streaming will be reorganized under him combining all the tech departments under one roof. Duplicate positions will be cut

@av Streaming Tech duplicated what, exactly?

Did Mom not tell Streaming Tech "we already have Paramount Plus at home" when COVID hit and they went shopping at the store or something?

I hope we realize the difference between FAST and SVOD at least if we're referring to Pluto.

Tech streaming layoffs look unlikely at this moment due to convergence and phase 2 RTO tbd. It could happen Q3 next year.

@aw Layoffs in streaming this October or in the spring? On here it’s been rumored that streaming won’t be impacted this time, but will be impacted in the spring, curious if anyone else can chime in

@a3 streaming tech as a direction - yes, but likely not as a team. Keeping PW over Vibol should tell you something. Streaming tech team ignored all rules and standards and info sec requirements and everything in between. They didn’t follow any corporate standards and duplicated most of what we’ve already had. They are bloated and out of control. I of course do not know for sure, but if I had to guess - I’d bet on blood bath in streaming tech, yes.

@a4 He is leaving at the end of his contract. No golden parachute for him. That being said, he has done well for himself. He is a great guy.

@a1 Not until next year.

@a2 the golden parachute will deploy first, it will be a long time before he lands on the cushion

@a1 No it’s not. Streaming tech is one of the only things DE wants to invest in (besides theatrical releases)
