Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Sad day for associates

Today's a sad day as more VSPd or ISPd associates walked out the door.

Some exhaled, took a deep breath and said "good riddance". Others started to cry as they're leaving a place they've called home and family for numerous years.

I'm sad to see the associates go as I know a few really wanted to stay. Also they put in a lot of hard work and dedication into their career.

Until next time, thank you for the training on the work, the ability to be open and communicate with your peers in the every day work.

You'll be truly missed.

@1yf I quit this week after being at EJ for 3 years. I guess the choice to move on after the layoffs was easy for me because I came to EJ while it was a completely toxic environment. I never saw the "good old days" at EJ that people talk fondly about.

My leader got demoted, because he had less than 6 direct reports, and one of my team mates was laid off. None of the layoffs or demotions on my team or my department were ever acknowledged in an official setting. They sent out a new Org chart for the department and people's names were missing, and others had lower roles. That was it. It was very bizarre and dystopian. I decided to take my talents elsewhere, away from the corporate world.

And nothing was done by the firm to acknowledge them whatsoever. It's disgusting.

@er it’s funny math when it benefits them. I’ve sat through chubakka’s town halls where his underlings over try to sell the great things that are happening. They know they are selling snake oil.

There were many people in my area who were ISP'd in March whose last day was yesterday. In the eight months they were training their Indian replacements. The number of ISP's Penny announced in August was not an accurate number. Is this what clients want in a wealth management firm? Penny either made an error in the number of ISP's which bad math skills is a worrisome factor for someone running a wealth management firm or Penny lied about the number of ISP's which is an absolute breach of trust for someone running a wealth management firm. If I was a client I would definitely run to another company. These are two huge issues. Penny is either incompetent or she is not trustworthy, or a combination of the two.

@av You sound like someone who has trouble making and maintaining relationships. I have a feeling you may have issues even maintaining healthy relationships with your blood family. Also, family does not necessarily have to be blood.

@av agree with you that work is a check but sometimes people make friends and it feels different. Not the same for everyone and this why empathy is important. All the best to those that have left the firm. Hope you can find joy in your next adventure.

“ leaving a place they've called home and family for numerous years”

What id--t can work family? Seriously, work is where you earn a paycheck, that’s it.
