Let Go 3 Minutes from COB

SHS IT contractor here. After nearly five years with the org, I was notified that I'm being let go via an E-mail and a voicemail 3 minutes from COB on a Friday. They JUST gave me a PC refresh this week - I returned the old one yesterday, and now I'm being asked to return the new one too. I thought I'd been spared for a time, but I guess that was foolish.

I know there's never a "good" time for this, but this puts me in a particularly bad bind with it happening right now. To everyone else affected or who will be affected, stay safe out there.

@at I think it might bedifferent if you're a contractor via Cigna itself, which i think is managed by Magnit. If you're vendor based, I think you would be notified by your vendor.

@at Cigna has been pulling the rug on other contracting vendors, leaving people in these situations often. Terrible practice, usually means rates for them will go up since they don’t operate in good faith with vendors. Cold comfort to the consultants just trying to our food in the table.

@a5 But that's not a Cigna thing. OP says he/she is a contractor. What's supposed to happen, is the person's contracting firm was notified and they communicate it to the contractor. It might be cr-p, but that's how working for body shops go.

Sorry to hear, can't believe it was via email and not a real person. Is cowardly.
