Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Return to office - not for India

ENGINE only need to work 2 or 3 days in office.

Maybe their pay should be reduced, since the rest of the company now it’s required to work 4x days?

@at, are you saying that 4-day RTO does not apply to San Ramon, Richmond, and other US based offices?

4-day mandated RTO would be FAR more tolerable if we had our own dedicated offices like we did pre-Covid.

Cutting back on travel and mandating RTO supports individual dedicated offices more so than before.

Was your pay reduced when you (pretend)worked from home and only showed up for a couple of days? It's more appropriate that they dock your pay for you doing nothing all that time.

@kr
At Chevron, I think it’s about placing people into the category of “not meeting expectations” because they can start tracking employees.

india gets 12% raises every year

a few years ago you’d get 4 indian workers for the price of one american one

now it’s down to 2:1

Foreign companies (not incorporated in India) are taxed at a 40% base rate (plus surcharge & cessations)

It drops to 25% if you have a corporate entity in India.

offshoring to india is very close to not making economic sense, you have been warned. fact check any bit of this i dare you.
