Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Risk value ops

Dr Frank mentioned layoffs on the “normal cadence” and said 90% should be done already. What is the normal cadence? Right before bonus rrp feb/march?

@b1 Is February RIF Bigger than January across the board or just in certain areas? Is it still involving areas that already got cut 20-25%? My dept already got decimated…can’t imagine losing more. Would love intel into affected areas. I’ve already started applying externally but the market su-ks.

I'm not sure of all what may be coming our way. I'll give credit to Dr. Frank today though. I REALLY appreciated a high ranking leader being honest and addressing these RIFs and the uncertainty and the stress it's causing everyone. (He even seemed to acknowledge that it's affecting work output - which is 100% true.) It was by far a better use of my time to attend that town hall today compared to the ridiculous (and insulting) clown show that was last week's All Optum Employee Town Hall.

@at I don't know one RN, BSN in the world that will work for $20/hr let alone $15/hr. Is this just a random hypothetical? They'll be disappointed if they believe they can hire RNs for less than we are already paid within the enterprise. It's already a GIANT pay cut compared to hospital shift work. Most RNs I know wouldn't take the position I have today based on income alone. I'm so tired of being underpaid and undervalued by the company as an entity.

They don’t place people in the open positions because they Falsely marked them down to 2s to lay them off. Let’s face it new hires also don’t have a chance because they rate lower than the others. He means 90% have already been decided.

Next one is 2/19 and definitely bigger than January. It’s heartbreaking.

@a5 You really don’t know? Current nurse makes 20$/hr and gets laid off. Keeping her/him requires the current pay. New hire comes in for 15$/hr.

@a5 EXACTLY!! I question if it’s something for earnings report they need to get us off the books for a couple of weeks to adjust numbers? I’m not sure but it doesn’t make any sense. Just consider the person displaced employee and move into a new position. It’s that simple.

Regular cadence means bi weekly or monthly. I think they are down to monthly now. Thursdays. Next one 2/12 or 2/19

So this company is actively hiring for all kinds of positions, why are layoff necessary. Why not just move your people to areas that need staff. I sure personnel can be moved or retrained etc. why layoff a nurse when you have tons of nursing positions for example .
