Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I’m so tired of not knowing what comes next

I barely manage to drag myself to the office every day, already exhausted by the fact that everyone else is in the same situation. We are all equal parts demoralized and worried about our jobs. I just wish this were already over so we could at least know where we stand. The problem is that it never really ends. The only question is how bad it will be this time.

@d4 wish it was, but have heard directly from at least 2 of the directors in the org that there are mandated significant budget cuts that they are going through now

@cm I hope that’s not true since I work in the Dental business. We are actually already staffed very lean compared to competitors. Cigna never invests in Dental but expects it to keep growing. I don’t know how we can stay afloat if more positions are cut.

@ac Wrong. It’s amazing to me that some people who work at Cigna don’t even understand this business. Cigna barely makes any money on ACA business. Our IFP business is very small and has actually lost money many years. The subsidies are not what is causing Cigna’s problems. It’s poor leadership and lack of an actual strategy.

@at agree...HIH makes more work for us in the US. My team lost 4 people in June 2025, the HIH replacements are horrible. I spent the first 4 hours of my workday figuring out what they did, what they didn't do and fix what they broke over night. I find myself constantly working after 5pm so I can catch up on my work load since I can't do it during my normal days. It's bad but leadership doesn't care since they do do the day-to-day.

I heard dental, supplemental health and RX IT will have big impacts as their leadership was just in HIH hiring replacements before the holidays.

They got 8 people out of 16 in my department in April 2025.. we barely manage now and all the offshore help is no help. They mange to make more work for us in issues we are fixing. We ended up hiring 2 people back . We can’t afford to lose more people ..

With all the profits from the ACA benefits companies going away, lots of changes are coming. They got too rich, sadly. And coverage never was what was promised.

Hopefully you started looking elsewhere while holding it somewhat together in this sh-t-hole.
