If you’re on a PIP you legit deserve it. They are a pain in the a-s for everyone involved. No one would go those lengths for that.

@pn I had a colleague who was unfairly put on PIP and I was assigned to be his mentor. I found nothing wrong with his performance but he stayed on PIP. He was caught in a mass layoff while on PIP and received severance.

Sir or madam, it is not that difficult to check the price history of a stock. The high was not only a 52-week high, it was an all-time high, and it occurred in Sept 2025.

And as far as I know, the most impactful layoff for Oracle in 2025 occurred in August and September as well.

@pn That’s true. If it is a large scale layoff, no PIPs. It will be immediate with no improvement plan.

PIP is rarely used. It’s hard to enforce performance measures and a lot of admin. This would be if you’re ‘meeting’ and marked as ‘requires improvement’ at least once. RIF is cleaner and easier to enforce at scale.

@bz That's not a 52 week high. The price of $345.72 is when many ORCL employees left Orlando in June. Just a point in time reference.

Are you actually aware of this occurring, OP?

This was always a concern of mine as well, hopefully it will not come to this for future employees.

ORCL stock was as high as 46.47 in Sept 2000, and fell as low as 7.25 by June 2002, a loss of almost 84.4% in ~21 months.

From 345.72 (oh hey, high in Sept again!), a similar drop would bring the stock to 53.94. If it happened during a previous hype, it could certainly happen again. I will definitely check back before June 2027. Just sayin'...

@av somebody would be crazy to rejoin O. It costs too much mental health condition. Doctors are expensive and payment from O is not enough to cover regular psychiatric sessions. So better keep your wellbeing somewhere else.
