Verizon plans a harsh change after major customer losses

Verizon has been on a downward spiral this year after it frustrated its phone customers with a series of price increases rolled out over the past few months.

During the third quarter of this year, Verizon lost 7,000 postpaid phone customers, as its churn rate reached 0.91%, according to its latest earnings report. This loss is alarming, given that during the same quarter in 2024, the phone carrier attracted 18,000 new postpaid phone customers.

When I switched to Verizon, they couldnt activate my phone. Took them 3 days to get it to activate. The number they gave me was still active to another customer. The "My Verizon" was never active. They lied about "a free phone with paid 2 year contract" made me pay for the phone after 3 years of service before I could cancel my service.
Just like everyone else my bill went skyrocketing with cr-p service and customer service.

@OP they lie all of the time. Customer service,?????, what's that????? Increase price, poor quality. Our service is out at least once a month, this requires being on the Line for about an hour to report it. This last time they told me my Sim card was too old. Hmmm when the whole valley had no service. When you have an issue you should be able to speak to someone who speaks very fluent ENGLISH, with no background noise and laughter going on. So unprofessional. Not sure why we pay for a business acct, because we lose $ all of the time due to poor or no service. "Can you hear me, now?" NO I can not!!!!! Reimburse your customers for $ lost when they have no service!!!!!

Well when you sell your corporate stores to a franchise that pay commission only, sales reps are going to be rude to those with customer service issues because they're not getting paid. In turn, the customer looks elsewhere.

@bf same here, we were with Altell when Verizon brought them out, so we have been with Verizon for quite a few years, have 5 lines and Bill has been going up and up, I'm thinking it's time to go to Consumer Cellular, I haven't heard any problems with them! Verizon has no loyalty rewards for long time customers!!

Verizon has always had the best towers and reception in my area but I switched this month because the service has been dropping the last 2-3 months and places I used to get service no longer worked. Also T-Mobile has 5G and Verizon still doesn't have it and it's been out for over a year. I use 5G everywhere now. And have all kinds of new areas where my phone works that it never used to. This is Verizon's fault. They should have kept up

I probably need to go to a Verizon store about my bill as I have 4 lines, a Senior Citizen and on a fixed income. I have been with Verizon over 15yrs. Will see what their answer will be.

To me the most annoying part about this is that Verizon is receiving 4 to 6 billion dollars in tax breaks over the next 3 years from the BBB getting passed and what do they do? Turn around and fire the very people that gave them those breaks.

@ag Well consider that the average employee probably has 3 to 5 lines of service plus friends and extended family. I have 5 lines plus my two brothers and some cousins use Verizon because of me. So in my case they'd be loosing 8 to 10 lines of service.

We called to cancel and they told my husband how to save money by having a certain amount of lines. Once everything was active, the price was even higher than they had told us it would be.

@at You think they'd count laid off employees, who get discounted prices in their results?

All you have to do is treat employees as a special category, which they are, and don't include them in your net line change.

They keep increasing my bill. Can't seem to get it right. I am tired of talking to call takers over seas who can't help. I constantly get hung up on. About to file a complaint with every government agency I can.

Ive been a customer since the early 2000s. Loyalty doesn't mean a thing with this company. No hey since your a loyal customer here's a discount or no price increase for how ever many years .
And then there's the spam calls the Verizon let's through. Phone calls from phone numbers that aren't active. Verizon solution pay us more to block the illegitimate phone numbers . Guess the loyal doesn't mean much with this company

I have been a customer from day one and the cost has steadily increased. Customer loyalty has NO benefits. Thinking about changing to a company that appreciates my business.

I was with Verizon since day one they continually raised my prices. My business could no longer afford to stay with them. They refuse to work with me on the price so I went with AT&T over 30 years with them no customer loyalty for Verizon to the customer.

@ag
Q4 is usually Verizon’s strongest for net adds, but after three straight negative quarters including a 50K loss last quarter while T‑Mobile posted historic gains Dan the hatchet man 🪓 will be desperate to spin a recovery fairy tale.
The truth: departing employees will drag results, and if Q4 net adds go negative, the stock market fallout will be brutal.

Here's a suggestion. Lower the price or get priced out. That premium service talk is a dinosaur. Not to many people will have money to pay for premium service.

15,000 employees $80,000 employee costs/year = 1.2 billion dollars saved
15,000 lines
$40/line * 12 = 7.2 million dollars/year revenue lost.

Net savings? 1.193 billion/year.

I think Verizon isn't too worried about "losing" the employee" revenue.

  • 18,000 for VZ (we're doing good?)

  • 800,000 for T

  • 800,000 for TMUS

kinda keeps it all in perspective

Verizon has become proficient at losing 2M+ postpaid lines each quarter. 15,000 employee accounts isn’t going to move any needle

I was thinking about that, I have so many active lines with Verizon as an employee. 15,000 layoffs they are going to loose so many more customers and lines of service. I have 3+ phone lines, multiple tablets, multiple internet connections. That’s 8 right there for 1 person.

As someone who has 8 lines with Verizon and I am sure a lot of employees are the same I expect Q4 2025 and Q1 2026 to be impacted by the laid off employees taking thier service somewhere else.

Don't worry though,
Dan the hatchet man 🪓 and his PayPal minions got all of that figured with the impressive AI models that Dan exclusively seen and tested 😏
