8 Hour In Office Only for USA?

Was told in a meeting yesterday that the 8 hour in office mandate was only for team members located in the USA. For team members in India, Philippines and other countries it was up to the manager.

Seems discriminatory and arbitrary. I've never seen anything in writing though. Would this be in the handbook?

Have you ever try to go anywhere in India? That is why everyone is remote in India.

When in the office, at least half the day is spent getting coffee, using the restroom, chatting with Karen in accounting, "personalizing" your neighborhood desk, grabbing a falafel from the cafe made by real Egyptians. Consider it a blessing!

No one is saying it's "not real", what they are saying is that Policy is written. It could be a directive but it doesn't appear to be a policy. Not yet anyway.

Why do people think everything has to be documented to be real? Let me guess, “I don’t have to follow the rule if it’s not written policy!” So the inverse is true, “if I walk up to you and call you a vajeena to your face it never happened because that was verbal so you can’t complain!”

Idjits are amongst us.

Remember: when those middle and upper managers tell employees they are appreciated, that's complete BS. Their bonus is based on letting people go. This tracking is so that managers have another tool to assist them.

Where is the guidance or reference to policy about eight hours I think this is nonsense.

Super sharp insight but I'll pass. I've got more active disengagement to accomplish at WF before I'd even consider bailing. So sorry...

It applies everywhere that they want to drive attrition.

Scrubs still work at wells and cry cry cry. The rest of us with skills already left. Keep crying your way right out of a job 🤣🤣🤣

Only a fool stays and complains. The rest do something about their situations without blaming the big bad corporate rules. It’s why Indians are taking jobs, they show up and try at least while the rest of you cry about anything and everything 😆

@ac

We are not discussing the differing laws of countries. We are talking about corporate policies. Subtle differece that may trip up the less astute among us.

No wonder you are struggling here.

lol, it’s only discriminatory if some here in USA were not required. Another countries rules do not apply here nor ours to their country.

This is why wells is terrible, lack of common sense among you guys 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve had offshore partners drop from calls because they had to catch a cab home, and Wells doesn’t seem to care since it’s cheaper labor. No shade to them, It’s not their fault but they don’t even work our hours, while I’m stuck with a 2-hour meeting window sometimes. Now I’m being told 4 hours in the office isn’t acceptable and I have to do the full 8. I even saw the article managers got about this via screen share with my manager. What I don’t get is the reports leadership uses don’t reflect the actual times I’m in said office, logged onto their network/IP. Feels like only people under 6 hours are being pushed to 8, yet my manager admitted she doesn’t even do 8 herself. So how is her name not on the report? I’m torn between letting it go or saying something.

Ok- I guess your best option is to move to the Philippines so you don’t have to follow the US rules.
