Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Most important discussions here the past few days…

These threads must have done something to “whomever” as they are actively posting nonsense threads to keep people from seeing these ones. Here are the links! These unethical corporations hold so much power, therefore, employees need to BE AND TO STAY INFORMED. Here are the links. 😘

Hopefully one day soon, the Middle Class and employees especially will take back their power through voting, reform, etc. and be given the respect that is truly deserved. Smart organizations value customers, employees and especially the Middle Class!

@fa Sorry that this happened to your friend. And still better than what people are getting at UHG. Packages have become terrible lately.

@eq Hey Smarty pants. This is straight from the department of labor:
Companies can legally offer different layoff packages including severance pay and continued benefits to employees in the same job grade. Since severance is generally discretionary rather than federally mandated in the U.S., packages vary based on specific variables.

Reposting comment from @fz to avoid those trying to derail the conversation. Here’s part of what’s in the layoff paperwork

"3. Release. In exchange for the consideration outlined above, I agree to release Employer from all claims, demands, actions or liabilities I may have or may claim to have, known or unknown, against Employer of whatever kind, including but not limited to, those which are related to my employment with Employer or the termination of that employment, up to and including the effective date of this Release. I agree that this also releases from liability Employer's parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, their predecessors, and each of their present or former agents, directors, officers, employees, representatives, shareholders, successors and assigns, whether in their official or individual capacities. I agree that I have executed this Release on my own behalf, and on behalf of any heirs, agents, representatives, successors and assigns that I may have now or in the future.

I agree that this Release covers claims under the Civil False Claims Act (including any entitlement to share in any recovery by the United States) as well as any federal, state or local statute, regulation or common law doctrine regarding or relating to employment discrimination, terms and conditions of employment, or termination of employment including but not limited to, the following:

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1866,
the Civil Rights Act of 1875, the Age Discrimination in EmploymentAct (ADEA),
the Equal Pay Act, the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA),
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973,
the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA),
the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA);
state human rights or fair employment practices laws; breach of contract, whistleblower, promissory estoppel, defamation, employment negligence, or any other contract, tort or other legal theory; and rights in any welfare benefit plan or any pension or retirement plan sponsored by Employer. I further agree that this Release shall waive my right to begin or continue any proceeding under Employer’s Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) policy. All claims that are covered by this Release are referred to as “released claim(s).”

@ep Name-calling already shows who you are. You are so triggered by the truth and the exact image of why the public loathes UHG, hopefully you sink to the bottom first. Have the awful cancerous vile life you deserve that matches your soul.

Also, here is a portion from the document: vile creature!

@eq I have a friend that worked for another large insurance company for eight years got laid off and just got 13 weeks severance. They’re also keeping her insurance premium the same as if she is working there for five months and her supervisor cried when she had a let her go.

@dt Everything you said would only matter if we were dealing with an ethical organization. In fact, no one would be here typing anything if that were the case. They used to let people know when there were RIFs and approximately how many were affected, but that stopped sometime back. They now do layoffs quietly and in silos but still large numbers that employees can’t see. The fact that there are many employees posting here already says something.
You can tell when you apply for a job on linked in and it tells you how many UHG Alumni applied along with you.

@dt it's very simple.. look at the org chart and look at the totals, it's dropped 2000+ past 30 days, that's despite big hiring in some areas. And in IT branches, I am seeing 100s minimum once again despite hiring in some teams. Or just look at the count at the CEO level, keep track of it a NB d report back in 1 month to see if the numbers go up or down. Numbers don't lie!!

There are no confirmed, broad-based layoffs reflected in credible reporting, official communications, or observable workforce data tied to these claims. What is visible is a pattern of speculation being treated as fact, and isolated anecdotes being elevated into sweeping conclusions.

It is also worth noting that emotionally charged language, personal attacks, and calls to “connect the dots” are not substitutes for actual proof. If anything, they tend to signal the opposite—an absence of concrete, verifiable information.

If widespread layoffs were truly occurring at the scale being implied, there would be consistent, external confirmation beyond anonymous forum posts. That simply is not present here.

At best, this thread is noise. At worst, it is misinformation being reinforced through repetition.

@df hahaha, yet you took time out of your day to not only read what was on the link but to also come back here and give your silly opinion? Yeah right! Clowning.

@df Good thing no one asked your opinion or asked you to vet anything. These things are provable and it won’t be in your favor if you keep this up.

@c4 Exactly. Certainly struck a cord. Look at another looney @df here calling it BS. Those of us they laid off can actually take to social media and post those documents everywhere for the entire planet to see! They should be beyond grateful that we haven’t aired the @$$es out like that. It could come to that if they keep up sending m-fia-keyboard -warriors here to type their negative 2 cents 😆

@df Do you want me to actually post my layoff document on YouTube for your m-ronic behind to read? As you can clearly see, most people in that thread 100% Disagree with you. Now go back to being one of their shills or psychopaths. I can get 10 more people and we take to YouTube and discuss it if you like, generate more bad press? Post those docs out there. Just be glad we haven’t done that and zip those cancerous lips. 😆

@av Yes, health insurance companies need to go! There is neither loyalty to consumers nor to employees. The people with the most share are the Danes ones rotating in the “C Suite” roles making millions a year. No care at all for people.

There was once a time, albeit a short period, where people: employees and customers mattered here. Those days a in the distant past. Employees’ and customers’ voices are silenced, concerns ignored, and people like @a9 would rather be mean and support this type of treatment instead of doing the right thing. However, nothing lasts forever. Change will come. 🙏

@aa Thank you. This is 100% about layoffs and the lack of integrity and respect when dealing with employees. It’s already gotten to a point when people don’t want to be associated with UHG . Giving bad packages with abusive language expecting laid off people to help you when you get stuck, respond within “48 hours” and at no charge is insulting and ridiculous. 😱😆 Why would they pause whatever they are doing to help you for free after you got rid of them?
