Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

US Bank expects too much from us

I'm never done with work. My whole life during the workweek is just working, then crashing, then repeating. I never wanted to be someone who lives only for Saturday and Sunday, but that’s where I’m at. It’s a depressing cycle and I’m struggling to see a way out.

I left. Had to get out because of that same feeling. Some days I feel bitter - I had always dreamed of retiring from USB - most days I’m delighted that I’m finally feeling valued at an employer again, and significantly less stress, and circumstantially making more. USB turned into a toxic culture and I watched my peers turn from allies to people that thought we were playing the game of Survivor or Hunger Games. Who will be voted off the island next? How do I stay in good graces with the boss long enough to miss this round? Peace out USB and good luck to those still playing the game. I choose not to be two faced or lose my own integrity for an opportunity just to make it through to try and survive the next round.

The bank is a horrible place to spend a career. For the new trainees tech brings in each year, if you reached your two year anniversary, it's time to leave the nest. There are companies that are profitable and great to work at. You will instantly get a 30% to 40% bump in pay. Your new employer will value and respect you.

@as I left 2 months ago after 15 plus years. Best decision ever. I saw the writing on the wall after first GK townhall call. I could have retired but was not ready and found a new job that treats employees very well and way less stress.

Move to AML? I'm checked out at noon everyday cause I'm done.

@as You leave...that's how you let them know

I absolutely can relate to this. By the time I do finish working every day, I’m absolutely drained. Mentally exhausted. Just to turn around and do it all again the next day. This cycle is unsustainable.

GK will never understand unless the numbers for the street are impacted. You don’t need to stay and be miserable. Ask anyone who has left the bank in the past few years if they regret their decision. I haven’t found anyone yet and the number of people is growing fast.

How do we let GK, her managing committee and shareholders know that we are over this sh-t and we the people have had enough of the narcissistic abuse?

I plannedto work 5 more years till RTO and all the layoffs, which increased my workload, which is unmanageable.

Now I just trying to survive at this, week by week

My goal now is to make it till Jan 2025 to receive 401k and cash pensions

There was a distinct shift in how I viewed my job when they started rolling out RTO and laying people off. I too now live for the weekends. Working from home I was a lot less stressed but now I just trudge in, do my work, and trudge home. It's a perpetual sort of existential dread. I'm probably the least engaged I've been in my entire career. But, I need a paycheck so I just do my best to stay afloat.

It's depressing. I feel ya.

Same here. I struggle now. It’s just trying to survive at this point. We are now machines working for our overlord, which is their plan. We are defeated

I give up
