Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Wells

Anyone else starting to realize they managed to re-org STAC into a somehow worse organization? 1/2 my team does not possess the skill set to do the job…but “boy were they hotshots at the [enter completely unrelated job]”.

Looking at the org chart, I’m convinced that if a summer intern majoring in interpretive dance had been willing to move to Houston, they would have made them an advisor.

Where CVX went wrong was in striving to become a more decisive and competent organization, only to have people—indoctrinated for years to do the opposite—chosen to lead and organize teams based on ideals that they say should now be obsolete. This reorg will fix nothing and we will see another round in a couple years.

Org chart? What org chart? The VP said they didn’t plan to create the org chart.

Engineers at Chevron are not Engineers, they're email senders.

Isn’t this what “winning in every environment” means?

It’s great to see the ABU green badgers—who’ve been doing the actual work—being moved on, so Houston can keep up appearances. Always reassuring when the people making the decisions are the ones furthest from the work. Really looking forward to the private jets flying in every time NOPSEMA wants a quick chat. And of course, it’s been a real highlight not knowing who does what, or who’s actually meant to approve anything. Smooth sailing all round.

Reorg was flavor of the year like so many other initiatives that have come and gone. New leaders, new objectives will come and they will want us to forget that this ever happened!
