Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Does Dan have any hands on experience with AI?

Not like management has hands on experience in telecom but this guy is trying to ride the AI hype train so hard it’s embarrassing. Very clear he has no idea what he’s talking about. When is the board going to do something about him?

True leadership takes a lot of humility, mostly because no executive can know everything. Their real job is just to surround themselves with the right experts and be honest about the brutal realities we’re facing without acting like they have all the answers. That’s especially true for us right now, considering we’re trying to make AI work after losing about 20,000 people and watching a massive chunk of our institutional knowledge walk out the door. For the most part, there is absolutely no change in our culture, except that everyone has forgotten about Business As Usual (BAU) and talks about AI non-stop. Meanwhile, the middle and lower leadership—the actual people responsible for executing the vision—haven't changed at all. Everyone is hyper-focused on AI and the customer experience, but none of that matters if we don’t focus on the network infrastructure supporting it. If we keep ignoring the network while dealing with this massive talent drain and distraction, we're going to hit a major bottleneck and get completely left behind by faster competitors who actually built a solid foundation

He said 20-30% unemployment rate. That is 1930's great depression level. When Bezos, Musk and other leaders talk about less hours and more productive outcome with more jobs. This guy is completely in a different world. Job market is bad, but it is not because of AI. There is a sense of economic downturn due to oil prices, war and a long overdue recession. Companies are preparing for this down turn. Every administration is handling this by printing more money. At some time, we will all pay for it. AI is similar to industrial revolution, it will simplify thing and make everyone more productive and create more jobs in new areas.

The only experience I’ve seen Dan’s hands on is a cup of coffee during his All Hands call.
