Got a 3 rating and 4 rating

Hey there!

Just got my miserable rating of 3 and another 4 rating. Does it mean I gotta an overall rating of 4?

I also suppose there goes my chance to even transfer to another team even if the promise of no PIP?

No need to say about incre or pathetic bonus, just looking survival at this point of time

@1hx I got 3/4 as well. No PIP, no raise, but a measly 1K bonus. We're transformation team and are expected to get fully cut, with maybe a few left behind for BAU stuff. I'm wondering with my conditions (stated above) they'll try to give me no severance. I'm more than 20 year at the company.

If someone received ratings of 3, 4, 4, and 3, is this considered a rating of 4? If so, will this person be laid off in the upcoming round?

@1bh

Doesn't rating 4 already means no severance?

You got examples even with rating 4 there will be severance?

I seen some been let go without any severance, wonder where you seen?

@12e in my dept folks have emailed the MD amd MD has set up meetings too, lot of people pi---d and have supporitng evidence to dispute the BS 4.
How citi ethics or hr doesnt see this is a massive fu-k up is beyond the reasonable mind. I mean 10+ year folks with 2/2s then 4..

I got response "we are getting high volume of such requests" - are they nuts? Still not understanding where's the actual problem? who will be challenging it those who worked and have proof? They should immediately fire those managers whose employees challenge the rating

@11x That's the whole point in increasing the number of 4 rankings. To reduce payroll and severance costs. last year they couldn't lay off the projected amount they wanted because the severance budget ran out. Citi is doing everything they can to meet the reduction in employees and not spend so much money. This includes rating people a 4. No raise, no incentive, no severance and documentation to fire you. Just another tool to get you to leave as cheaply as possible.

@11m hmm we tought RIF if they happen regardless of rating they have to give severance as its large target. Thats messed up that they would attempt to to that.

if you got a 4 rating, yes you are now a target to get fired and at the top of the list when reductions start to happen. Reduction in force is usually large scale and you can get severance. However, you usually don't get severance for being let go for poor performance. 4 is needs improvement and, you are not meeting the requirements of the position. If you are rated anywhere from a 1 to a 3 and get RIFd, you'd get severance. If you have a 4 you'll be fired for poor performance. If you haven't already, start looking for another job. The writing is on the wall. They've documented your situation to support letting you go with no severance.

@11a are the people who got the four rating gonna be RIFD? Or just in general there's gonna be an IFTI got the same sh-t 3/4 but mu management is not transparent

I got a 3/4 as well and was flat out told by people I trust in management that it's political, their reviews were bad too, and no PIP/impact on performance.

Sterling mid year, not a single complaint, direct manager shows up to maybe one out of every 10 weekly 1:1s. Rumor is a bunch of us are gonna get RIF'd which is fine with me lol.

@eg praying for you and me both and all others. God bless all. Literally in same boat.. so you are not alone. As others have said there is a forced curve and directive given to -1 some employees. I think it comes down to if you dont brownose all year then the ones that stay to ourselves - this sh-t happens. A lot of usually 2/3 people are now gettinf a 4 over bs . Specially in leadership for ICs ( loke how the fu-k do you even rate an IC on that)

@n7 i would advise go ahead and file it now and state why you feel its not accurate. If your manager never gave you in writing feedback and then "suprised ya" with a 4 bc of a forced curve (99.99% ) of cases .. please open that Hr ticket have them look at it. At best they see the pattern and potential liabilitu they have here for unfairness . At worst it protects you from a random layoff

@ky We have heard that there was direction this year to change the bell curve to have more 4's. So some people who would normally be a 3 may have been changed to a 4 to meet the quota. Would be helpful to have more info like how long the OP has been here, previous ratings etc. If you've been here for 10 years with all 2 and 3 ratings, it would be very odd. Short timer with no proven rating history - who knows.

Not going to be a popular comment but what are you doing that you got a 4? My organization last year only had one person and basically they were shut down and doing nothing. If it wasn’t brought up during your mid-year then it is a bit problematic.

It’s all designed to give the perception of your diminished value as an employee. To put you on the fast track of it being YOUR decision of leaving. All so that severance can be avoided.

Its a game and you’re a pawn. You are to be used and discarded like any other asset that Citi has. Those telling you to go to HR are delusional in thinking that it’ll make a difference, it won’t I can assure you as it’s their playbook of giving lots of folks a 4 and\or lower rating than what is deserved.

@ar open an hr ticket . Ssme thing happened to a LOT of people. Its odd. Folks with 15 + years a s suddenly one 4 . It seems to me they want to make people desperate to quit. Hang in there and land another gig internally or outside.
