Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Come for the pickleball, stay for the same old noisy open plan annoyance

Anyone notice how they never showed the places where you’ll actually work? Probably because it will be the same old open plan warehousing with no assigned seats where you’ll have to battle background noise while you try to do focused work.

And remember, all the fancy stuff is about one thing: making your life revolve around AT&T and Stankeytown as much as possible. Same playbook as Google, Apple etc just 30 years later.

Come for the curried fish and asparagus in the microwave. Stay for the unflushed toilets.

You think I'm unproductive now. Just wait. After logging in, start with a morning kayak ride to view the sunrise. Then onto some pickleball. Onto the cafeteria for lunch. Then after some pickleball and curling. Time to go home.

@aq OP here - if they listened to the survey we would be back to hybrid or remote so yeah that “we listened” stuff is garbage.

The only thing I have ever cared about concerning offices when I’ve interviewed for jobs is whether the location works and maybe if the office is near places to eat. If having a pickleball court or something like that is going to make the difference between joining AT&T and another place then that person needs to rethink their priorities.

According to stank think, this new campus was a result of "employee engagement survey". 🙄 I hardly think people said they wanted same old sh@t in a new locatation. Also claimed they would do future employee feedbacks before they started building.... of course everyone knows that will be a lie given this input would have to come prior to the blueprints being sent for building permits and his timeline of construction start didn't support that.

I kind of gagged when he actually thought people would want to work for att because of this building. That real estate guy seemed most proud of claiming there would be enough parking. Well of course there will be given all the layoffs.

That's okay, do what you need to do! Guess who does not need a named seat, chair, computer, company benefits or paycheck....
