@197 Yes it's called self-managed layoffs because the unhappy people will eventually leave and it'd cost the company zero dollars, anyone who would be returning would have no choice cause they need the job and can handle the 'violation' of driving to the office to sit in their cubicle and be a good employee
Anyone ever think this is their way of reducing headcount? Much cheaper than paying out packages.
@mg if you look at the 10Q were taking a $8M-$9M loss on closing the second floor
@mg wasn’t RTO already in place???
The company probably has some long term locked in lease deal which they need to make use of and so RTO was the only idea lol
The company should be fully remote. The in office fetish makes 0 sense for a software only company. Absolute waste of time and drain on mental energy. I accepted a different role today specifically to get out of the office requirement
They need to shut down the SFO office yesterday.
Is it legal for some to get a benefit and not all? Serious question. I truly feel violated.
people are pi---d! Even those not affected, because the messages are so f’ed up. They keep saying more info is coming and are stressing the cr-p out of everyone. They sent out a Culture Amp servey that requires a code they did not send. HR is beyond sc--wed up. They are ruining the one thing left that gave anyone a sense of balance. Word is they are going to pack us in vecause they don’t have space. This place is cr-p now and they don’t care about people. You live near the office, then you don’t count. Come in even if everyone else in you team is remote because it’s good for our little egos. Such incompetence.
@an that was San Ramon and San Francisco only. This sounds more global. But again communication is so bad that nothing is shared and creates confusion/anxiety
What was managements rational around announcing it this way?
I thought this is already a requirement for people within a 50 mile radius of an office?? What's the change?
That is discrimination of the geographic kind. Ironic that the ceo isn't required to be in the office.
Only for those located a short distance from identified offices.
For what teams? US is closing offices.
Wtf is this real? I was hired remotely?
