Delivering the mission statement 'Lets get going' and simultaneously firing about 1000 people would appear to show a serious lack of common sense. Are you people serious?

We had to hire more than 10 people in early JAN for a project with a strict deadline.
Management reduced their number by 30+% because reasons.
Today is 23.MAR and we have ZERO people hired.
At this point there is no point to hire anyone anymore because success isn't even remotely feasible with 70% or even 170% of people needed.
This is how this company operates now. Bean counters will count beans for 4-5 months straight and then there is no point to even start trying.
Let's get being let go!
@an this ^ the writing had been on the wall and that’s why I left some months ago. Each time someone on my team would leave, they’d never get replaced. We went from 6 to 3 team members over two years while work increased. Manager kept saying she’d hire someone over the course of my last 12 months and supposedly even had the budget but never did. I gathered she likely rather run us down than hire an extra head to make her metrics look good (e.g., I saved the department X amount this year). I was averaging 12 hr days the last year - rather work that hard for more pay or better opportunity. To this day, I’m pretty sure that extra head hasn’t been hired and I was never replaced either which is just crazy. I sensed the exhaustion among many other teams more than before too in my last 12 months. That place is a sinking ship
The people who got going are better off than those who are still here. They got severance and will get better jobs soon. All who are still here just got a vcp pay cut and worse jobs.
Then keeping some of the leadership is a joke.
Go woke go broke!
