Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford October US Sales report

Still no line item for subscription sales, so we still are a vehicle manufacturer.

But of note, we’ve allegedly sold In Q3 2025 815,000 Ford Pro Intelligence software subscriptions. We’ve sold less than 84,000 Lincolns all year. Should Lincoln be cancelled to focus on selling subscriptions?

All the subscription talk was tied to having EVs, now the failure Lightning is canceled and the imposter money-losing Mustang will be next. They will be trying to sell subscriptions to functional door locks soon.

@z9 I think it's in the 80's now.

What's the average age of a Lincoln buyer? 75?

@an I’ll believe anyone actually renews a Blue Cruise subscription, or any other subscription offered by Ford, when subscription renewal revenue data is part of the sales reports. If they aren’t touting it, it isn’t there.

@pz we should have hired someone from Apple to be General Manager of Security and Integrated Services instead of moving the failure CEO of Canopy Security LLC into that paycheck.

Nobody is actually buying subscriptions from Ford, they are given away with the vehicle purchase and recorded as marketing expenses. You won’t ever see renewal rates published. And the Ford security package doesn’t compete with an $25 air tag in the vehicle and the phone in your hand.

@an you didn’t mention the subscription take rate for the new Ford Security Package, formerly known as Canopy Security LLC. It’s going to take a lot of subscriptions to recoup the $200M wasted on that.

There is a lot of Tom Foolery that goes on with 'subscription sales'. Can we say....commercial customer agrees to purchase vehicle and signs up for subscriptions only to get a credit on their purchase price to pay them back for the cost of the subscription. Don't even get me started on the under the table checks being paid out of the variable marketing slush fund. Fake Numbers.

Yes, just like small cars, midsize cars, large cars, small SUVs, minivans and mid range priced divisions like Mercury, Lincoln should be canceled. Ford should only make midsized to large trucks and SUVs which preferably cost at least $100K. Additionally, they should ensure that no monthly payments are less than $1000. Finally, Ford should focus on EVs in order to “be more like Tesla” and deprioritize ICE engines which are yucky anyway.

Must be the customers who can't add 2+7 to go with subscriptions. Ohh well

@an Yeah, but how long before the customers start to realize that they will never stop paying to drive a car that they thought they had paid off? Its kind of like resort fees at vegas hotels..... they end up p!ssing off the customer and they start going in a different direction. Subscription fees are a short sighted strategy.

I like how OP conveniently leaves out the increasing sales of BlueCruise subscriptions. Or that subscriptions are sold and renewed over and over again. You can only sell a new vehicle once and profit off it once. Just pointing that out.
