Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Sales team and support reps laid off in Ireland

Looks like the whole sales team was axed, and some tech support people were laid off too

1 day after the execs flew over from the US to tell us about how they were happy with the work and with the growing headcount. would have been more decent to just not say anything...

how is it looking in other locations?

@an Its all about the shareholder...If we were at a bar having a drink I could tell you some stories that would make your stomach turn. These exec's will do anything to make the share price look good. They have run out "stock buy back" options. 20+ years with the company and I had enough. So far it's been pretty good outside of there. Many of those years were great, but the last 5-6 have been a steep down hill slide.

@1e0 That’s why you obviously are not a C-level executive. A while ago, there was this brillant idea that support would just move from Amsterdam to Cork when they were planning the IHQ move and neglecting facts like nobody will move from Amsterdam to Cork for a job.
That’s different language, culture and Cork is just a town is in the middle of nowhere while Amsterdam is one of the best cities to live in.

@118 - y, the “upskilling” is quite interesting. Unfortunately, I’m not intelligent enough to understand how it’s a good business practice to layoff experienced, competent, productive personnel and replace them with employees that cost more and require training by existing personnel that make less while their managers don’t know how to do the work

They aren’t even being covert about it.. there are so many initiatives currently up to upskill mouth breathing id--ts in +91 to do the bare minimum to fulfill a role at 1/5th the cost. This place used to be great, now it’s just a tire fire lead by id--ts.

@OP: you are forgetting they happened to be in Ireland for Presidents Club at FourSeasons, celebrating just how great they are.

They’re just quietly and slowly moving everything to India…just like every other tech company out there. Some lie saying they layoff due to AI, meanwhile publicly available data shows they’re just replacing with H1B Indians.

NetApp is a company HOPING that AI means no employees. They don’t value their employees. Look at the way they hold RTO as a threat. They hire these upper managers from AWS that don’t believe in the credibility of employees. They just want reports of quantity and ignore any value of contributions. And forget it if you challenge them. Such total incompetence at VP and above these days. Cr-ppy time to lose a job. But not surprised.

Layoffs in Ireland don't make sense. They are desperately trying to hire employees in Ireland and are even creating nonsensical jobs just to get tax breaks.

Layoffs at HQ as well yesterday, in marketing and creative. A whole team axed.

The recent layoff at NetApp really opened my eyes to the kind of people working there. I have never in my life come across such a concentrated group of hypocrites all gathered in one place. On the surface, they present themselves as supportive, ethical, and team-oriented, but when it comes down to real situations, especially when people’s livelihoods are at stake, their actions reveal the complete opposite. The disconnect between what they preach and what they practice is staggering, and it leaves a bitter taste knowing that so much dishonesty and double-talk can be normalised within one company.

@OP Decency and Execs do not sit well together. They have zero humanity. Absolute beasts.
