@an WC? West Coast? Seems extreme ...

1:1 that turns into a 3 way when a an HR partner unexpectedly pops in. If you see that, I'd disconnect and run to the WC.

Oh, and look for a vague meeting topic like "Bob question" or "Merit revisit"

I was laid off in October of last year. Manager on East Coast sent out a meeting request for 8 AM Pacific time the following morning. Manager and manager's manager were in attendance and read the script, laying off the entire team.
The team members on the west coast spent a sleepless night, but had to call in to an early morning layoff meeting.

1 on 1 with the manager on the suggested date of the HR. Script is given by the HR.

Meeting will look like 1:1 with your manager but HR will also join.

From what I've heard , last second teams meeting scheduled. Usually manager but I knew someone who's manager was traveling and they got a generic HR person calling them on teams.
