Let's be honest... the US Gov't was never not have a homegrown fab mfg network. It was just waiting how it would play out... first it was CHIPs money... that didn't work. Then it was throwing it some guaranteed NSA/Military money... that didn't work. Now, learning just how incompetent IFS has been over the last five years... it's down to brass tacks. Shotg-n wedding with TMSC and the ugly step sister bride Intel.
Will this be good for America... prob yes. Will this be good for Intel shareholders... prob not, since IFS is less than worthless and will be basically given away to TSMC for nothing (let's just hope Intel doesn't have to pay a dowry to take the tu-d). Would it be good for existing IFS employees... lol, they should've taken the buyout before just getting fired with nothing. Intel shareholders just hope TSMC will "pay" in some shares for IFS, and pray that Intel Products can be a legacy embedded play unless they got a back room quantum computing project going.
