Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

It’s a plan.

February and August. That’s the rhythm now. Next big WFR? Count on it early 2026.

Dell’s chasing that $$$1M revenue per 1000 employees stat like it’s gospel. Heard they’re planning 10%+ cuts per year through FY27.

So yeah, this isn’t a bump. It’s a plan.

My comment yesterday so you can see the original so and not the AI chat bot rework:

I suspect if Dell goals is to hit the benchmark of 1m revenue per 1k employees, they will trickle around 10% WFR through FY27 to get to around 92k employees. I would expects peaks around Feb and Aug in layoffs.

Looks like a Chatbot stole my comment on another post yesterday and turned it into its own thread. Interesting.

@an The only time Tech support roles are "safe" are if you are at a smaller company. But places like Dell, Amazon, HP, etc...? Yeah, they will outsource tf out of tech support if they can. Smaller companies usually don't because they know nobody wants to talk to an Indian they can't fkn understand and are trying to build their reputation.

@an RR7 and RR8 haven't been part of Dell for years at this point. They are either sitting empty or were rented out but, I worked in RR7 in the Pro Support for a year in 2016-17 and quickly quit that dumpster fire of an org.

Funny thing is is that there was Pro support and, Pro support "Plus" which guarenteed a caller to get a US citizen. I'm betting they did away with that and now it's ALL in India at this point.

Tech support at Dell is easily outsourced to India, unfortunately...

@a3

Some roles were once considered safe, but that’s clearly no longer the case.

To provide some context: I was working in RR8 in tech support when I began noticing RR7 and RR8 gradually emptying out. At the time, we were assured that employees had simply been relocated to RR2. That narrative quickly fell apart, and he reality was that entire departments had been laid off, and their functions quietly outsourced to India. This shift began around 2020.

If you’re still in tech support, understand that your role is not secure. The automation services are now managed from India, and OLEM—a group that was previously US-based—has also transitioned offshore. The goal is clear: expand OLEM operations in India to cover all shifts, making the US-based workforce redundant. And once they get redundant then your job will be slashed.

So if you're still in US tech support, your position is under evaluation—whether they’ve told you or not. The infrastructure is being put in place to fully shift support offshore. It’s no longer a question of if, but when. You can either be proactive and explore new opportunities, or wait for the inevitable severance conversation. Currently, the "follow-the-sun" policy is being used as a convenient excuse, and employees would be wise not to fall for the illusion, as they are entering a trial phase in a "global" model.

@ae It's been the rhythm since at least 2010.
