Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Managers do list names

My manager reportedly gave me up. Stupid as a box of rocks. Or else I’m being fed lies. Prob both.

@pf thank you for that honest perspective. I actually do believe you. It's sad...cause your manager def didn't know how hard or whatever your direct reports. it's been years since I worked for Oracle. I have to say. Every single one of my managers...total wimps, cowards, incompetent and just trash humans. If they were on fire on the side of the highway....I would keep driving. Then again, maybe they were like that before Oracle got to them. idk. So happy to be out of there. So many better places to work that are actually relevant and not stealing from people.

@a7 It's funny that they act like it and gossip just as much as everyone else...if I could only share with HR the candid convos I've had with my manager and managers over the years...they themselves would be axed!

Another perspective: I was an M3 manager at ORCL for ten years and went through several layoffs. Not once was I even consulted about who to let go. I was just given the list by my M4 or D manager and had to do the dirty work. Usually, I did not agree with the decisions made for me.

Depends what group. Plenty of managers and Ds, Senior Ds not involved at all.

@ak Well, it gives the manager brownie points with upper management.

@a7 nobody expects a manager to be a friend. Being a manager when your team member is working and giving results, you don't self nominate your team members

Surprised you are surprised. Your manager IS NOT your friend.
