How were people notified when laid off? I just received a meeting invite from the dept manager and director. No mention of HR in the invite though....

@OP so here is the deal. The actuaries and people at the very top sc--wed up. Thought COVID dollars would keep pouring out of the tax dollar fire hose and missed the whole shift. Then blamed it on you ( figuratively) so in order to preserve their reputation with the board and the street, they do something really heroic like lay people off. Wash. Rinse repeat. Meanwhile, they arent skipping a beat. Making as much money as ever for being less than intuitive and definitely not long term thinkers. Its not their company. Owned by the investors, not them. They have employment contracts. You don't. Maybe cash in some Kudos points on the way out and get a pen or a t-shirt.

Sorry to hear that. I had a “friend” on the inside who was in the know back in Nov. I tried to let people know then even though I didn’t have the details but he was a really reputable source. Was called a troll….
Mid morning, unscheduled Teams call came in from AVP. Answered it and split screen showed the AVP and someone I did not recognize. Turns out that was the HR person. AVP reads prepared statement and ducks out. HR then provides the details such as severance and for how long and answered any questions. Within 5 minutes the call was done and my access was gone 5 minutes after that.
@OP It is as you said. Called to a 1:1 meeting with the VP. Now, a week or so out, I see that it was the VP that was doing face to face vurtual lay offs because managers were laid off as well. This was the first week of Feb 2026.

I have no clue who from my department was let go but today at corp my manager caught me at the door and walked me up to the office. Let me go with a smile and said they would walk me back out. On the way out I asked if I could stop by the restroom. I basically let out a massive revenge dump and dropped a duce in the top tank right outside my managers office. I’m out….enjoy the nuts and cranberries.
For our department it was just a last minute meeting scheduled same day with a supervisor. For the individuals that were being let go and then a department meeting letting everyone know the layoffs happened a few hours later
