I left O a few years back. Been in another area of tech. Progressive, outside the box thinkers. O mgmt stay for decades cause they can. They do little, they’re worthless on the outside and they know it, they’re unprofessional tech but professional liars, very lazy. Where I am now, we would not hire any O mgmt. we know the type of people they are. It’s very well known. Not trustworthy and loyal to one thing, turning on people or just being cr-p to them.

Morally the company is so corrupt. I didn't realise for a long time exactly how complicit we are and what we are building. We are the bond villain.

I love being at Oracle. With so many of the good people stupidly RIFfed being compared to some of the remaining 'talent' makes looking so good while doing so little is so easy. If you have no plans/need to grow and build your career its a great place to just sit back and laugh at all the 'Leadership' and what directions we are moving towards. Worked too hard doing fun and cool sh*t in years past, now not going to stress. Oracle has been great for those that plan ahead and have been contributing to their retirement fund aggressively for years (decades for some) and hit critical mass long ago as a result. Advice to the young uns is to pay yourself well first (ie: Roth and 401k) off the top and dont touch it

@m2 "find a better job elsewhere". Where? Who is actually hiring? Technology and AI have made job searching a worse job than than holding on to the current job.

The OP sounds like good ‘ole Charlie Brown, dreading one day at a time. Laughable.

I used to regret my time at Oracle...cause it was "oracle"...but over time...realizing that my existence at oracle was due to an acquisition...I realized the horrible people that ran my GBU....people who couldn't handle young up and comers, people who in their mid 40's even 50's...instead of appreciating young energy...they shot it down, sabotaged it, stopped growth with very few promos. Then acquired other companies to just leapfrog myself and my colleagues. That really had nothing to do with Oracle. It had to do with people who were absolute trash for decades. People who, with power, granted by Oracle when we were acquired...held people back, played g-o-d...I had so many colleagues that out and out just quit...some with nothing to go to. I realize now, these weren't adults, these were manifestations of trash acting as human beings. most had no skills. A few played different cards, but when I look back, I dont blame oracle. I really dont. These people were liars, frauds, sabotagers, and just over all horrible people. I would say good percent of them still are there today. Their careers will be a blip on the Oracle map and behind their backs, they are hated and loathed. Much like many Oracle managers. A few of them even willingly defrauded the US govt. Just horrible greedy selfish people. I never see any of them these days, but if I did...I would grab a sip of my beer and laugh the loudest laugh into their pathetic faces. I couldn't wake up every day and know I was a hated, loathing fake fraud. I thank Oracle for allowing me the chance to do some cool stuff.....and I more than made out on the deal by learning how to invest on the countless projects they had me doing where the work could've been done by my manager or a 12 year old. No one really wants to be at Oracle...but we got mouths to feed and bills to pay. Who knew were feeding the mouths of Oracle mgmt like we feed our children?? hahahahahahahah

@c9 You have it all wrong. The other poster is spot on. WHY stay at Oracle if you hate it so much? Why put yourself through so much grief? You're getting a paycheck from Oracle, which is better than being out of work. The point is to stop the whining and find something that you really want to do in your career. So yes, get off your proverbial behind and find a better job elsewhere.

I've been in IT for decades. I've worked full-time or contractor for companies very large and not so large. Every job I've ever had has su-ked in its own special way. For the last 10+ years I've gone into work expecting to see a layoff notice in my inbox from out of the blue. It has happened twice in that time period, and two other times when I was a contractor. (Contractors generally are the first to go with little to no notice.) Although I've contracted a few times as a "solopreneur", it's always su-ked in its own way. It is just in the past year that I'm come to terms with the fact that companies have all the power, and the bigger ones have all the money. They've all figured out how to pay "just enough" to make dealing with the su-kiness worth it. One thing I'll say about O: they have good pay and very good benefits. I'm going to hang on as long as I can.

@b7 please, do not write like that. This way of thinking allowed destructive places and toxic management grow. Just stop doing this, because one day there will not be even one option to go somewhere else if the focus will not be in the place where we actually are.

Seriously, I hope this is allowed. Video with people who quit their jobs in this environment. Please try to find a head space where you can stand it a while longer. https://youtu.be/OWmT0NDkmhs

@OP - Stop being a crybaby. Be grateful you even have a job. And if you don't like being at Oracle, then get off your fat chops and find a job elsewhere. It's that simple.

@am It could be much worse. You could be unemployed, no paycheck or income coming n, bills to pay, and dealing with ghost job postings, scams, a dozen interviews for one job (if you even GET an interview) then get ghosted after spending countless hours over several months trying to get that job.

It's as painful for me to say this as it is for you to hear it, count your blessings that you have a job and pray you don't lose it, because there is literally nothing out there. Unless you have another source of income, or are ready to retire, you'd be cooked.

@aj unfortunately it is better to do repetitive tasks than everything else as there is no more value work, only garbage remains for human work.

It will get better. AI is going to free you up from repetive and boring tasks so that you can focus on higher value work.

Toxic and destructive place, it penetrates gradually and slowly all energy, good mood and joy. When you realize that, you are already boiled.

My bitter joke was that it was always like working on the Death Star. There was pay but the job, the management, and the mission was all sh-t.
