The underperformer did not dodged the 3 years of continuous layoff. They have performed well in rubbing their management who love to be rubbed and pleases them.
So such management should go first and thing will fall in line. You are not alone facing this as one such deparment in APAC operation site condone such act without batting an eye.
Quite infuriating how they let go of really good contributors. Don't understand how we still have underperforming people who have dodged 3 years of continuous layoffs.

I think it s much more than one person.
I understand that 50 to 60% of the ILS US lab is affected and that some role that we were re-hiring for in ILS UK / GIS after people had resigned are not happening anymore.
few folks in ILS are impacted as well.
Illumina is a train wreck.

@aj this was me. It was just a meeting with my director on outlook, then my HR rep entered the room right as it started. I got RIFed and my last day is January 5th. They wouldn’t tell me how many others were impacted but they did say I was not the only one.
Sounds like small round of layoffs. One person I know has been RIFd

How long is it? If its 15 mins, its likely a layoff
I do too, except it is with my Director. I did hear that promos got finalized so I am hoping it is that instead
