Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Now I know why my pip is so hard to pass. Thanks VP.

I heard from a reliable source that a well known VP was complaining that too many employees were passing pip. His orders were to make it harder to pass so more employees would leave. My pip plan is very complicated. I completed all my task projects and they keep adding more to it. I protested but they said the pip plan could change depending on performance needs. I contacted HR and got no help at all. I was told the supervisors and managers were in charge. It feels impossible to satisfy the requirements of this pip. Oh well I guess I will retire. I will tell off that smug d-mb a ss supervisor and useless manager when I leave.

the PIP and how hard or easy it is is completely at your supervisor/manager discretion. If they put you in NSI because they had to and don't really think you belong there they can give you a softball PIP that's easily passable...if they want you gone they will make it as hard as it needs to be to make sure you don't pass..simple as that. The way you are talking about them you clearly have disdain for them that you aren't even pretending to hide, so it's no wonder they are putting the sc--ws to you/want you gone.

@gk Yeah, they posted a wall of text, but the grievances seem legit. Reads like someone who is genuinely trying to keep their job and is being forced out for….reasons.

You OTOH, come off as being genuinely toxic and part of the problem. Kicking people while they’re down is still a sh---y thing to do, even in 2025.

@aj Your poor grammar, spelling and made up story proves you should have been "PIP'ed" in the first place. You and the OP should go back to trolling other company's boards.

Since when is HR there to help you? In any company? Mistake #1.

My pip is feeling like a lost cause. I did everything that was on the list but they added some things extra. Contact external customers and engage talks about quality issues. I am not in quality and know nothing about this. I asked why and was told expand my knowledge base and make me a more valuable employee. I call bs on this and they are making me do something that is not even in my job description. HR is letting them run wild. There is no protection for the employees. My manager is very condescending and belittles every accomplishment. The manger continually asks me if I want to switch to pil and leave because I am not doing so well. I say no and I want to continue the pip. I will stay to the very end.

Yep. Just retire and find something you really enjoy doing. I received NI a couple of years ago even though I saved my affiliate's bacon time and again. I realized WTH am I doing putting up with this cr-p with only a couple of good decades left (Lord willing) and plenty of money? Left, enjoyed the heck out of a year, returned some of the calls I received, set my own terms and have more than when I started retirement with personal satisfaction. Go for it! You g people, same really applies to you
