@b4
Offshore workers already do some center jobs and contractors could do field related jobs, but you already know that.

They are pretty good at locating other underground facilities with a backhoe or a directional borer. Problem is, it is not AT&T facilities they destroy.

Just heard this as part of the vsp rumor... with the influx of talent coming over from the QF buyout early next year, once all the PUC complaints get resolved, there will be no vsp, just rif. You do not even want to know where this information came DIRECTLY from. Welcome to the 4th Industrial revolution, Cloud 2.0 and AI coming for ALL the jobs. Please assume the position when ur numbers called and enjoy the rest of your ride! Baaahhhhh

Been hearing the same rumor. 30+ yr union field tech here. I thought i may need to sell one of my vacation homes or car collection however, when I went to see my money guy he said all is great! Apparently, I fall into a new category of saving too much! I just had to explain to him, that each time there was an SLT change, my overtime hours would always increase due to the "new way management wanted to do it". I told him I had to stock it away somewhere, got tired of it scratching up my a** wiping w/ it!

I have doubted an article 8 layoff pay, but why did the company cap the payout at 35 years on the last contract if it was off the table?

You must be a "manager". I'd like to see offshore workers physically installing the new fiber infrastructure.

Hasn’t happened the last 20 times you posted this nonsense. They’ve already said that is never happening. Thats why they agreed to those ridiculous severance packages in the union contract. Not happening. They can’t afford it. If they layoff it will be the cheap new guys, then make you miserable so you have a heart attack or just retire.

There are no "cheap" guys. Top pay comes after 5 years, or like me after 1 year due to previous job experience.

I don't need 5-5-5. They haven't done that since 2001 with SWBT.
I will though, glady accept the last offer of a years severance pay plus 50k like the company offered in July.

Usually vsp plus 50k and only offered to around 1% statewide.

@a3

It's a voluntary separation package to retire early.

For example:

An employee who is 50 years old with 20 years of service does not yet qualify for retirement under AT&T's "Modified Rule of 75" (age + service = 75). With a 5+5 incentive, their calculation would become 55 years old (50+5) and 25 years of service (20+5), making their total "75" and qualifying them for full benefits.
