Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Was your age a factor???

Were there any laid off that were over 40 or even 50? Please respond with your age only (not name) if you were laid off or know of coworkers in your areas that were let go who may be of this age. I am thinking of hiring a law firm and wanted to know if I am right by what I am hearing. I know most of you don't know about this site and I may miss many but I would appreciate your input.

If you are a woman, minority, or those with a disability, I would appreciate you commenting without names please.

@bz3 @bz3 Yes, we, the ones who were laid off on 07/16/2025 have a document that includes the ages and the tittles of all the people that got fired that day. But what do we do with that information? As you all know, a lot of us were remote workers and I believe that we may need to find/contact a Chicago law firm that specializes in age discrimination. Any recommendations? Has anyone created a Telegram/Reddit/WhatsApp group so that we can talk, build a case and maybe approach a law firm together?

Anyone who was laid off by CDE has an “anonymized” list of others within their division who were laid off at the same time, with role and age. There’s the evidence you are seeking.

  1. I am supposed to have a call with IDHR because I opened a case. At this point I am leaning hard to engage a law firm that specializes in corporate law specifically discrimination. I was committed to my CDW career, follow all the trainings, customer and partner engagements. Accepted all the work arounds and dealing with a manual system, limited budget for marketing and events. For many like me, closing my career like this hasn't been easy. I honestly don't recommend CDW to any potential new hires rather steer clear, depending on your role there isn't any work life balance just claw backs on benefits, etc. All I forsee are more hiring freezes, lay-offs and entry level roles being off shored.

@OP
I had been with CDW 16 years, yes a middle age white male. I was placed on a plan with goals that were beyond capable of being able to execute on and zero support. I ended up filing a complaint with IDES and now have a CASE number. Of course we're a layoff target.

Holy sh-t…what percentage of coworkers over 40 were let go??? 90% or more at least? And what leg does CDW have to stand on with an almost guaranteed class action lawsuit incoming? They deserve everything that’s coming to them via these age discrimination lawsuits.

Anyone has been laid off, gets a list of the ages and roles of workers in their division who were also laid off. And age discrimination is pretty easy to make based on the numbers that were there when I got laid off. The only one who was under 40 was a 38 year-old.

I was laid off during COVID & there was a sprinkling of younger coworkers who were also affected. IMO, they were only to bring the average age down so it didn't look as bad. (I was in my late 50s at the time)

@a8 yes, I'm nearly 60 and was let go. The list included in the severance package shows our age and nearly all are over 50. Ageism is illegal. I don't belueve any new hires were let go, especially the young APMs. I'd like to join that group discussing this with a lawyer.

One coworker who was laid off is actually speaking with a large and well known firm and they called me on his recommendation. He knew I am one of the few that had the list from this project. I didn’t share it and didn’t tell anyone they called me but there are several older coworkers that were let go. They threw in some young coworkers to balance it and not appear to be old leaning. We didn’t do things like this before but Al and Liz aren’t part of the old CDW and have both been handed the wheel. Liz was our leader before moving up so I know her mindset very well. I am done being complicit but can’t bark too loud or I will be discovered and let go. I pray for all of us in the coming years.

I had been let go in a previous layoff at over 60. I know several who have been let go in this round at over 50.

There appears to be age discrimination going on.

@OP a mid to late 60s member of our group was laid off. The Director, P.K. is an ageist and only hires people that are under 35.

The oldest member of our team, who is 61 or 62, was laid off.

One in our team was definitely over 50 and the only one I know so far that was let go.
