Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Promotions here feel like a myth

Been told it’s coming for over a year, but nothing. At this point, I’m convinced merit has nothing to do with it, instead you need connections to move up - be it friends or family. Anyone else stuck in this loop?

@fp Same here. But they used the budget getting more people in who negotiated market rate. Who get paid way more to achieve less, as half the job is do you know DXC in house process. I gave up took my foot off the gas to at least feel I'm on the same hourly rate. Made me sick with stress. Whole project tied up in paperwork I've lost the will to help with. This is the end result of DXC penny pinching pay what we have to and not a penny more policies does. But it's ki-ling renewals, moral, and staff

Never wanted a promotion just let me stay in the same job but pay me more money as I get more done than anyone on my team

@aj+1jz3mnwma is the useless Brock still there? Even his direct reports hate him, very accurate every word he says is untrue.

Boville, Mary, and others gone but Brock survives, what a joke.

There are people who joined as junior / standard roles who got unpromotions into management roles without actually getting any of the benefits of such, ie grade and salary. A lot of that management at a TL / SDM level are ex grads and people who started in desktop support. Some folk who started on the service desk and other entry roles like £20-25k a year are still making that salary (with I assume adjustments now that the UK minimum wage has slipped that), it's disgusting but sadly true.

Its a shame to read these comments from outside, since I know they are too true when you're in that environment. It was the only place I've worked where promotion was not met with some kind of salary elevation. The answer - a tired and old one on here - is to apply for a higher role at another company. Scary? That's just your confidence keeping you back. Just get yourself a niche recruitment agent and be specific about what you are looking for and your skills. Let them do the work for you. If you stay at DXC you will be stretched with more responsibility until you break and, as I recall, DXC have an inordinate amount of manual administration placed on all of its workforce which costs the earth. But to date, its been easier to get rid of people and hire grads knowing they will get 6 months out of them before they leave. I am surprised, really surprised the company has lasted this long with C-suite after c-suite come in, take huge pay rises amid reducing share price and low productivity and stock rewards or increases are never tied to accomplishments, otherwise they wouldn't get anything. Pity the investors who for some reason think there is a long term gain here somewhere. Where?

Useless Brock promises promotions all the time on his calls. He takes on a load of juniors and promised promotions for others. None promotions materialise.

Everyone knows his openly lying on all his calls and see through his ballsit.

His just another one giving us Geordies a bad name that we can't be trusted.

You negotiated a salary when you joined. That's it. Even if it was 10 years ago. They don't believe you'll quit. When you do they can't react quick enough to change it.

Promotions are not merit based. It's not what you know but who you know & blow.

If you are USA or UK then you are out of luck. All promotions are blocked. Have been for quite a long time.
