Being in the office 3 days/wk is reasonable

Those who are too lazy to be in the office for 3-4 days a week don't care about their job and their career

I like to work in the environment that I feel most productive in for that specific day. Sometimes this results in less than 60% in office. So be it.

@gm and I have witness many managerial level guys in the bathroom barely even let water hit their hands after peeing. These are guys that are shaking hands throughout the day. Gross

@b7 same here. When there’s an offsite in Charlotte and a lot of my coworkers are in town, it’s nice to finally be face to face with colleagues. But the majority of my team is either in India or NY or Mass.

I’m just in the office alone on Zoom. No point.

Most people probably don’t mind being in the office. I don’t mind it when there is a legit reason besides “collaboration”.

The issue is we go into the office to sit on Zoom.

It’s a big waste of time.

My schedule is jam packed with meetings all day and none of them are in person. I can just as easily do them from home.

@OP In a few years (maybe 2 years) they will think having a job and going into the office 5 days a week is a lot better than not having a job at all with majority of the jobs going to AI. This is why so many corporations want to move as fast as possible into the AI world. Won't be many complaints from AI working 24/7, that's for sure.

If you as a human have a job right now, consider it a luxury. Cause in a few years half of America will be out of a job. AI is moving exponentially faster than anything before.

Axios Charlotte just posted an article this week about the in-office policies for the corporations in Charlotte. All of the major companies have the same 3 day policy as TIAA or they are completely full time in office. Yes, working remote would be ideal, but where is this utopia of companies that allow full remote in our industry?

@a7 all I know, is make sure to knock the keyboard you use a few times before touching. All the hair, crumbs, and fingernails that fall from the keyboard is disgusting. I take a mini can of Lysol everyday and sanitize my workspace.

@a6 None of these. 3 days a week today in financial services is the most flexible arrangement you can find among the major financial services firms. It is 5 days a week at JP Morgan and I believe 4 days a week at Morgan Stanley. Morgan Stanley is laying off a lot of people also, and their retirement benefits/401K match are much worse than those of TIAA.

Also at TIAA you get a much more generous paid vacation allowance. But some people just love to whine and complain about everything.

@a7 TIAA provides for paid sick time off, so you cannot blame the organization for the fact that some people come to work while being sick. They and their management should know better

@ah If this is the case and you have no one to interact with, it is indeed the failure of the management and strategy, and you should find a better place where you can interact with colleagues in the office and grow your career.

Coffee badging and leaving before lunch is also a failure of management. When individuals have nobody on their teams in the same location or managers fail to engage them, employees see in-office attendance as meaningless.
